OMG I passed my module 2 test today!!!!! First time as well....we were out on the road for about 35 mins and it felt like hardly any time at all!!! I'm now off to catch a plane home from the Orkneys so will post a proper write up of the test ASAP. I just can't believe it!!!

My parents were in their mid-70s when I got my first bike, so they were way too old to be bothered with worrying about anything other than what time is Corrie on? Ha ha fair enough then!!! Hopefully the feeling will pass when you go out on rides together!!

Module 1 - members test experiences
Dana_leigh replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Passed my Module 1 this morning!! Got to the test centre at 7.30 am for an 8am start!! The Examiner wasn't there so we took the opportunity to sneak in a few warm ups on the avoidance first. Once I was called into the room and all the paperwork checked we then started the test. I was shaking so hard I thought I would drop the bike during the manual handling but I managed to keep it together and complete the manoeuvres. Went 53 on the avoidance and then 59 on the E-Stop. When I finished the examiner goes 'Now you should have done that last time!!!' as it was the same guy I failed with last time. Needless to say I'm a very happy bunny right now!! -

Got to calm down as I'm back out for 11 to practice for the Module 2 which I have booked for tomorrow!! How did yours go Chris?? Hope it was similarly celebratory!! -

don't have too much ale the night before, get a good nights sleep, and think positively, ensure you have more than enough time to get there, arriving late will put you on edge and in the wrong mindset and harm your chances, get there with time to compose yourself and relax... if your using your own bike make sure you have done your checks, and make sure you have fuel and been to the bathroom. and an hour to get there to fail, think positively and it will take you an hour to get there and PASS... failing to prepare is preparing to fail... All good advice. I'm off to bed quite early tonight to I'm fresh for the morning. Got all my paperwork ready and have spoken to the bike nicely!!! WE WILL PASS TOMORROW -

yeah know what you mean. Least you will be warmed up from riding first. One of the problems I found last time was that I had to jump on the bike and do all this and it takes me a little while to get comfy on the bike. I'm sure we will both be fine!! My instructor says if I get there early enough I MAY get a warm up on the cones before the examiner gets there....so I'm going to get there nice and early lol -

You are definitely not alone!!! have you had a lot of practice?? I've done a few hours worth but I'm a little worried as my Avoidance speeds are not completely consistent.....hopefully I only need to get it right the once though!! -

well up here it gets dark very quickly....and earlier than down south. Its quite dull and dusky here now. I think it's more that they thought it might be ok, but the examiner said he wasn't happy with how quickly the dark came in last night and H&S wouldn't cover them if something went wrong. Waiting for a phone call back now to confirm the time for tomorrow. Its unusual as the test space is in a public car park, so they have to wait until out of hours before they can do the tests. -

it wasn't supposed to be until 5pm, but its been cancelled because apparently it's too dark to do it. Waiting for a reschedule but they mentioned tomorrow morning at 8am!! -

thanks guys!! Trying to stay chilled and calm atm -
Well here it is again!! I'm off out to do my module 1 today after failing the last one. It's at 5pm and it's currently raining which means it will be dark and wet!! Did practice in rain the other day and it was fine, not issues there, did practice in the dark last night and that was a bit harder as the cones aren't reflective. Hoping it will all be fine though!!! Wish me luck!!!

I bought all my leathers on ebay. My first set were Spyke and cost £70...little too big round the waist but generally looked ok and did the job, then bought a second set, Frank Thomas for £35!! bargain, fitted a bit better. Sold the Spyke back on ebay for £60 so didn't loose to much. Then once I had save up, bought myself my Dainese set for £200 on ebay, fitted fine and sold the Frank Thomas set for £85 so made a profit!! Ebay is good if you make sure you get the seller to offer measurements and are able to measure yourself. As a budget option. Coming up to winter you might also get a set of leathers a bit cheaper now as its 'out of season'. To start you off it might be just the thing. Tho obviously textiles would be better for the winter period, why not look for those on ebay too.

thanks guys I really hope I manage it this time!!! -
Well its half term and I'm back out on the bike to do my modules 1 and 2!!! Going well so far, but am on Orkney and its wet and windy!!! My Module 1 is on tuesday evening and them module 2 is on thursday morning, so bit of pressure to get module 1 passed ok. My instructor says its like I've never been away (Last time I rode was the end of August) so I'm pleased about that. Last time I failed my module 1 on the avoidance task, so I'm working hard on getting those right. Its been very wet so far so learning to do it in the wet and trusting the bike wont go has been an experience, but I'm feeling pumped up so far!! Finger crossed it's my time this time!!

Scorpion Exo Lids

http://www.daviddarling.info/images/hum ... l_side.jpg take a look, its the Malar Bone I don't have.....luckily they aint joined -
Hi, just seen this does anyone have or looked at a Scorpion Exo Helmet? They have an inflation system inside which allows you to inflate the sides by your cheeks so the lid fits really well. I have a problem getting lids to fit as I actually have no cheekbones, so as you can imagine lids dont snuggle up so close. I am planning to go and try one soon (currently in bed with flu!!) but just wondered what anyone elses thoughts might be as they are quite expensive for a brand I've heard little about beings a newbie. http://www.thunderchild.co.uk/thunderchild/index.html http://www.infinitymotorcycles.com/Clot ... elmet.html

yeah they did mention that, worth looking in to. I have a while before I need to make a decision though.....many things will change before I get to buy one
-
not sure....I think they are all pretty similar....the ER6f is marketed as having 'Ninja Looks' I will try both of them out, went to the Ducati showroom at the weekend to find out the prices had gone up!!! they are now over 6 grand so it might no longer be an option anyway...unless they have a second hand one going
-
Appreciate the visual, I guess what I mean, is I like the fully fared bikes like the Ducati 748 etc, but I know realistically I can't jump straight onto one of those, so I think a Kawak might be a good start.....even though I love the Duke someone has said the handling on corners can be hard.
