  1. Hi all I've just finished a cbr that was crashed last year and have got a night mare of a charging problem going on basically stator was burnt out and flywheel magnets where weak so replaced flywheel and stator + battery and reg rec for good measure and all was good for about 80 miles and then flat battery so tested again and it's showing battery is charging when I take it up to 5-6k revs then suddenly drops to whatever the batter charge is at I've just tried another reg rec so convinced its not that checked stator with multimeter and all seems OK there aswell

Basically I've been rebuilding a cbr1000rr bike is all completed and running spot on but I have a problem with stator grommet leaking oil and don't fancy buying a full new stator when there is nothing wrong with the one I have so hoping someone will have an old on I could get to use grommet off

    That's a relief :thumb:

    Still voting for the honda.

Keep in mind that you will be able to do more with a 600 than with a heavier 1000

Yeah bud I've been really interested in the blades and alot of people I have talked to who I ride with have said the weight difference isn't too noticeable when riding, im really liking the 08+ models with the Honda symbols on the tank lol

Personal preference bud I've been on gsxr 750 and 600' and they are the perfect machine for the roads but I just want to take the step of owning a thou and if it does come become pointless ill sell and go down a engine size lol

  6. No not my first bike I've been riding for 4 years now 6 months on a 125 2 n half years on a 500 n 1 year on 600 ive rid 1000cc bikes here and there when I get the lucky chance to so know what I'm doing lol

  7. Hi all its come to the time for a new bike im set on getting a 1000 sports bike ive mainly been looking at 1000rr fireblade and zx10r's but I'm open to other bikes

My budget is £5000 but can push it another 500 or 600 quid if need be.

  8. hi all cheers for the help once again had another proper look today and realised it was leaking out of the housing that connected onto the filler cap but luckily had a spare one so sealed it up with some instant gasket and there's no problems at all now, just gotta prey it goes through mot all ok tomorrow 🤞🤞

  9. Hi all back again for all your opinions got an er5 which has been abit of a problem child since I've owned it had loads of problems sorted out including new cylinder head and gasket, carb rebuild complete new starter and much more. Most have spent over 2000 on it in past year in repairs lol. But now got another problem with coolant coming out of cylinder head over flow hole im not 100% sure where it is leaking but seems to me its dripping onto the head n coming out of the overflow.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas I've changed the filler cap with another 2nd hand one (as couldn't find a new one) but still leaking, is there a chance head gasket has failed again? Or something little less serious

  10. Hi all in need of abit of help just got bike back from garaged all fixed up just need to sort a new exaust out as mines looking abit flat🤦‍♂️, I've had the linkage measured where the pipe was cut and told its 60mm inlet size i need to fit exaust pipe.

I've been looking at exausts (Ideally delkevic or black widow) to fit an er5 and can't find any that'll fit. I messeged delkevic store on ebay and they said the exausts for an er5 is 51mm

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

  11. Right , basically a lot of starter motor issues are resolved by simply giving the thing a good clean . To get yours off you can just unbolt it and lift it out BUT to put it back again you will have to remove the left hand engine cover so you might as well do this first. Lean the bike over and you won't spill any oil . Once it's out , undo a couple of bolts and it all comes apart easily. A load of black dust will probably fall out as well . You will need some 2500 grade wet and dry paper ( Halfords ) to polish up the copper plates ( Commutator ) Strip everything out and grease the bearings and gears . Make sure everything is in order and look out for things such as loose or cracked magnets or rough bearings . As long as there's a quarter of an inch of the carbon brushes left ( spring loaded blocks that rub on the copper bits ) you can get away without replacing them . Bung it all back together and it should be good for thousands of miles . This isn't a difficult job because you can bring it indoors and lay it all out on the table . Get a couple of cans of that cheap brake cleaner from the local bargain shop to blast away the filth . Unless something is obviously broken this will save a packet .

Cheers for the help Bob will be giving it a go tomorrow (weather permitting) :thumb:

  12. Do you pull the clutch lever in when you start the bike?

Common fault on ZRX1200 and 100 leading to us buying chain tamers !

    Worth a look.

    Cheers

    Ian

I usually tend to pull clutch in when starting bike but not all the time
