  1. Like littlecat - have you tried kid sizes? I see kids on motorbikes with the full leathers. That failing all a certain auction site does made to measure leathers. I know because I nearly ordered one myself - and it doesn't need to be made in China. That said my sister got her wedding dress made in China and it was perfection - a proper designer copy for £150. You can get fully kitted up. Just requires some time looking to find the right one for you.
  2. Never downshift using engine braking only if the reason you need to slow down is unexpected. You will get killed. If I am riding alone with no traffic I will take roundabouts with engine braking, but if there is traffic around I do tap the brakes just to make the light come on. Trouble is people can check to the right and take their eyes off the road because you are still accelerating as far as they can tell because they see no brake light out of the corner of their eye. I personally, given plenty of braking time and not in heavy traffic, release the throttle, (possible brake), clutch in drop 2 gears, clutch out, ride, (possible brake) clutch in drop a gear (possibly 2), clutch out, ride.
  3. Great job. It's a feeling very special.
  4. Congrats. Enjoy the bike.
  5. Bikes don't have a front plate.
  6. Re-read my post and read the small print. I bet there is hardly a person on this forum who hasn't hit 90 on a public road if they have a big bike. I'm sure many people here will have done 100 at some point. Accidently is as good as purposely, - speeding is a statutory offence.
  7. Extraordinary poll result. I never thought we were all so good at not getting caught.
  8. My ZX6r conks out if you do it with the stand up. A very useful tip if you are buying one like I did and wonder whats wrong with the engine when it conks out continuously on selecting 1st.
  9. The only one I have ever dropped (excluding when someone hit me) was when I was stood stock still on my DAS talking to my instructor. He said in 20 years of training he had never seen someone who was sitting comfortably just drop it. To this day I have no idea how I did it.
  10. Time to cough up. If you don't want to just vote in the poll. Car points count too - because the license is one. I have had several close near-misses. I freely admit both in my car and bike my license should strictly have been taken away at some point or other. Nowadays if I do go over I make sure it is within non-banning speeds. And for the disclaimer we, that is me, this thread and this site, do not encourage or gloat in law breaking.
  11. Scooters! My life! I have never driven one and never wanted to. Ever. I used to nod to them, but I don't think I ever got a nod back.
  12. All the best! Don't rush anything on the day, talk out loud in your helmet and double check everything, esp those indicators. And yes MOT places like to be seen as very british and have things that look like they are an exact time. So it's 8:17 or 9:46. You can bet to your last penny it won't be that precise. Just like the trains.
  13. Yep, most people say that. If you drive a car I found you change that style of driving too!
