  1. I recently bought the Ruroc Berserker. The helmet plus an extra visor cost £385.

I then bought the Shockwave Bluetooth module for it, which was another £120.

The helmet is very comfortable to wear, and the Bluetooth unit is loud, though the buttons are nigh on impossible to use when in motion.

As someone that usually uses a Bell MX9 Adventure and Bell Broozer, the Ruroc’s lack of peripheral visibility take some getting used to.

I’ve yet to wear it in the rain, but if it performs well in the Welsh climate, it will probably be my go to winter lid.

  2. Took my mate to pick up his new bike yesterday, GS1250. Lovely bike, wasn't impressed with the salesman at all, my mate asked a question about the suspension and settings and the salesman told him to Google it!! I had a quick run on it yesterday afternoon, nice to ride, very smooth, lovely comfortable machine that I could see you going miles on in luxury. It certainly wouldn't be for me though, I found it a bit top heavy and I'm not sure how it would be using it for the daily commute, I think if I owned it I would have to have a 2nd bike for day to day use. For touring though, IMO this bike would be brilliant.

Which brings me to my next escapade, I'm looking at getting rid of the MT10, don't get me wrong I love the MT, absolutely brilliant bike, but, I need something a bit more suited to my needs. I want something that I can use day to day, commuting, use for the weekend runs with my mates, but also tour on, two up, in reasonable comfort "we were supposed to have been going to Verbier this year which had to be cancelled and in truth I wasn't looking forward to it on the MT". I've now got my selection down to two bikes, Yamaha Tracer 900 GT or a Triumph Tiger 900. I can pick both bikes up, used but in excellent condition for a good price, I've ridden a 700 Tracer and that bike was excellent, I know the Tracer is basically an MT-09 engine, which is pretty much tried and tested and seems to be a reliable and strong work horse, the GT variant has better suspension and a couple of other nice to haves for touring and winter riding. I've never owned or ridden a Triumph so can't comment, I am going to book a test ride on one at a local dealership though.

If anyone has owned either of these bikes and has any opinions, then, I'd be really interested in hearing them. :thumb:

    I have a Tiger 900 GT.

I’ve just done 600 miles so it’s going in for its first service next week.

I absolutely love it. It looks and feels quality. It rides a dream. It’s fast, comfortable and offers a commanding view. The cruise control is lovely on the motorway, and the engine sounds great.

  3. Cool! Good image quality and stabilisation. Can it follow you? Or newer model needed mayeb? 😉

Yes it does have that feature. I’ll try it next time. I didn’t want to get too clever because it’s the first time I’ve used it in ages!

  5. Am I right in thinking that's the piece of road used in the opening credits of the antiques roadshow?

If it is a mate showed it to me a few years back and I struggled to keep up with his 500cc trials bike on my ZRX lol.

    A lovely piece of road.

    Cheers

Hi! I honestly have no idea sorry. Not a show I watch.

  6. Hi all.

I did my Mod 2 on Monday in Newport and passed. I found it much easier than doing the Mod 1, which I failed first time.

I like riding a bike and decided to treat the Mod 2 as a nice, relaxing bike ride. All I did then was applying all I’d learned in my training.

Today I ordered a new bike.

    Congrats on the pass,

I'm looking to do DAS very soon and assume the closest test centre to me is Newport. What was the test route like? Not overly familiar with the roads around there, apart from the obvious tunnels! 🤬

It took in some of the A48 down to the Patents Office, then doubled back vía Cardiff Road towards the town centre. We then turned left by the big Tesco and headed uphill doing many of the residential roads up there and dropping into the town centre.

Then back towards the test centre.

  7. I passed my Mod 2 on Monday and have been interested in how different dealers deal with requests for test rides if the physical licence has been sent off by the examiner.

So, as I have my test certificate, I called up the local Suzuki, Kawasaki and Triumph dealers.

Suzuki let me take out a V-Strom 650.

Kawasaki said I’d have to wait for the licence to come back before they’d offer me a test.

Triumph offered me an accompanied ride, which I took.

At least I’ve managed to take out 2 of the 3 bikes this week.
