  1. That was one of my concerns I've had lenses shift around back of eye I'm guessing not a great experience doing 70 on motorway also forget they are in and rub my eyes.
  2. Cheers Mississippi. I prefer to wear glasses as same as you contacts make my eyes dry and itchy. I have bought myself a flip up helmet to do my DAS with pretty sure I'll just forget about the glasses after a while .
  3. Hi all, My biking experience so far only consists of my CBT but I wear glasses and found them to be a bit of a pain with a helmet. What did glasses wearers here do just leave it and get used to it or go to contact lenses for riding ? Cheers.
  4. Hi All, Took my CBT last year but thought would share experience. I'm 49 had a couple of off road 125s when I was 16-18 so long time since I'd ridden. Turned up there was 7 of us there that day two guys around 40, four guys in their 20's and myself. Had the usual classroom chat and bike walk around, the 2 instructors seemed ok had a bit of a laugh. Walked bikes to paddock and all seemed to go well no foot down on slalom , figure of 8 , u - turn emergency stop we all seemed to get it but it was evident to me that the rest of the guys were a bit better than me. Got ready for road ride but they said they were only allowed to take 3 each so they asked if I could wait a come out by myself. I had a sneaky suspicion that they wanted to take me out one to one because I was the weakest but we're being polite about it. Anyway the other all came back smiling, laughing and slapping each other on the back looks like they had a great time. They all passed. Anyway came my time to go out and I went to bits with clutch control, I had been fine all the way through the paddock exercises but couldn't get it and the more I stalled the more if a state I got myself into. We pulled into a dead end and the instructor told me to take 5 and some deep breaths and calm down. Once I had he said I need you to u turn here, I tried and tried but kept putting my foot down then he looked and me and said " I really need you do this " I guess meaning if I didn't that was it. Anyway I couldn't we went back to center and I stalled again at a big busy junction. When we got there he said sorry but you have not made the standard today you need to come back for a hour if additional training. Feeling gutted I went home and was unsure if I even wanted to get back on a bike again. After a night sleep I rang up center as soon as it opened booked for two days time. Turned up different instructor seemed really nice guy. Took me to paddock and asked why I had to come back and I explained due to lack of clutch control. He took me through all manoeuvres again and seemed puzzled as I sailed through. Took me on road ride and it all just clicked helped by loads of praise and encouragement from 'Nev' turned out to be 30 minutes of heaven. Got back he wrote out my certificate and I grinned like a self abusing monkey for the rest of the day. Don't be disheartened if you don't get it first time, we all learn at different speeds. Edit - After I wrote this I read back through some others and was amazed at 2 day courses and 2 hour road rides. I think my instructors must have wanted to get home, pretty sure the whole thing was over in about 3 hours start to finish.
  5. Cheers guys. Have mixed feelings about DAS can't wait to get back on a bike again so really looking forward to training but I pretty sure nobody ever has looked forward to Mod one and 2 The hazard perception test is a strange one I did hours of practice clips to nail it but there seemed to be a lack of consistency as to how early or late you needed to click. I used the advice of clicking three times about a second between on each hazard this gives you a decent chance of being in the scoring zone.
  6. So took my theory test Wednesday. First exam I've done in probably 20 years. I was actually very confident as had been practicing on apps for two months and was scoring really high on both theory and hazard perception. Sat down listened to intro then into test first 10-12 questions BAM seen them all before knew was right then I got thrown a couple of questions I'd not seen before and went into " fook I know absolutely nothing " mode and started to get a bit stressed and doubting myself over questions I knew I knew the answer to. Got to the end but a lot of my confidence was gone. Onto hazard perception, when I first practiced this on my app I was terrible scored really low but again kept at it and got really good. The thing is unlike a question you don't really know how much you score so it's a bit unknown. So finished up and queued up to get my result, they handed me a folded bit of paper I suddenly found myself not wanting to open it....I walked out if the waiting room where about 8 very nervous teens were sitting , as I was walking along the corridor I couldn't take it any more and opened up my results. There is a lot of info on the paper so was scanning it when suddenly I fell down the stairs of test center....I passed so limped home on cloud nine
  7. Bit late I know but here's my experience. I passed mine on Wednesday. I was a bit shocked when I went online for the first time to practice and failed really badly ( been driving car for 30 years). But after watching them back I understood better. I would say download one of the apps available and practice it's well worth it. The one I used had about 80 clips. Saying that none of the clips came up in my actual test but the practice was well worth it. As said before when sure click then click another 2 times about a second apart that way you should cover the scoring . Saying that don't click too much or you will be scored zero. On a side note they gave me my result on a folded up bit of paper I waited until I left the waiting room to read it ...and when it did I wasn't looking and fell down the stairs and the test center
