My brother was riding his 125 the other day when his chain went (again, keep buying a new split link but won't pay for a decent new chain) anyway it came off and wrapped around the sprocket area and he fish tailed and came to a stop, i went and fitted the new split link for him and we started the bike to find the chain and sprocket spins but the wheel doesn't, as if it doesn't have any form of connection with each other, any ideas? sorry can't provide pics, it's parked up at his misses at the moment and he is too cheap to just pay for a van for collection and too lazy to just call the AA!

Queries about bike size and test requirements
dazza_b replied to a topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
buy a 125, there is plenty enough power to start with, they can reach around 70-75, or so depending on the bike, also if you haven't rode with gears before, then you may find it tricky to get used to, which you could do it at your own pace on your own bike, yes doing the lessons alone may come out more expensive. if you buy a 125, its a one off big bill, then you ride it on the roads, which is constant experience, you can practice mod one on a car park, which is more practice, take it on a lesson with you, which will be cheaper than renting theres!. the main thing is, buy something like a little ybr, they hold their value, so you don't lose much, its cheap insurance as it isn't some little rs125 getting rode around redlining everywhere. they are easy to ride, easy to learn on and enough power to get you through the test. ps even though you can't restrict a 600 down to a 125 power, if you could, with the weight of the bike you would ride around at 40 everywhere, which isnt fun at all. thought i would just throw that in there -
That was another thing that bothered me too, but with the standard exhaust, it is nearly touching the same panel but a but further back, I may just think on it for a bit, no need to rush into anything I guess, thanks for your help though
-
As far as I know it doesn't need anything doing other than removing the old end can and replacing it with this one, and changing the bracket places due to it being a much shorter exhaust. I have been told it helps the bike run smoother in the lower reps, don't know how true this is, it couldn't do that being just the can could it?. An the only thing putting me off is me making a right bad job of it, don't want to damage the bike
-
but surely at £35 it wouldn't exacty break the bank, i have seen people buy the full yoshimura exhaust system for there bike costing a few hundred for the sound and performance. plus i will use this bike for atleast another 12-24 months as i have only just got work and can now start to affored my test, bigger bike and new gear etc (not that i had old stuff to start with but would like a new helmet if i go for a bigger bike)
-
will take some tomorrow if they will help, too dark out to get a good pic of it, tomorrow morning should be better though, i have just found this though, someone recommended i get this end can for my bike + there are vids of this on the same bike as mine on youtube. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180800600260? ... 1423.l2649 not too sure about it though being a copy
-
i have seen a few videos on youtube with people that have fitted different exhausts onto it and with ease by the sounds of it, surprised me when i found out that other exhausts fit on it. but im guessing that with what you said, i wouldn't be able to just remove it?
-
Hi, i was looking to get a new exhaust for my bike cause it is quite quiet and i prefer a slightly louder one (feel it makes people more aware of me on the road). i have a pulse adrenaline (yes i know chinese, but i wanted something to get my through my test and i knew a dealership owner who sold me one at trade price new) anyway back to the topic, does anyone know if the original exhaust on these have silencers?, if so would anyone be so kind as to tell me how i would take it out?. if not looks like ill buy a new end can. Thanks

i'm going to be booking my own now instead, after what happened yesterday, i dont think ill go anywhere near that school again!
-
I don't know, it was the training schools fault though, they some how managed to book me and someone else into the same slot or something like that, I don't get what they actual my done, but when she told me I would have to book more lessons, and the test, I told her she may as well just forget it
-
Thats what I thought, then when I called to book in another test, she said that I have to pay to have more lessons if I want to do it with them now
-
Waste of my time, got up early, got all my stuff prepared, got there an they overbooked, I have to re book another test and wait again
-
Module one in the morning, got to be there for 7:15 God help me
-
what would people recommend for me to buy, to keep my bike in the best condition, it will be used all year round, and sadly stored outside on my drive, i already have covers but insure if i needs more than just that, also what should i use on the chain etc etc thanks

trying to get my money?
dazza_b replied to dazza_b's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
thanks , thought it could have been her just trying for money, thats why i never bothered booking in more lessons because of it, i mean, im pretty sure in the 15 months i have been riding i would be more capable than she is saying -
basically i have done three bike lessons now, on the second and third lesson they said i was fine and ready for my test, i booked this in. i forgot what time my test was, so on my way home i popped in there to ask, and the person behind the desk was saying i should do more lessons, saying i'm not ready etc, which annoyed me, an when i said that the instructors have said i'm ready, she claims they told her i need to work on my pulling away, emergency stop, clutch control, gears... although i have never locked the wheeles, on my first lesson i stalled it once on a hill, and i done the slow ride etc fine. is she just trying to get money, or do you think the instructors are just telling me one thing, but telling her another?

alpinestars boots size help
dazza_b replied to toon83's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
well i think they are like trainers, shoes etc, all the brands have slightly different sizes i think, i tried on a few pairs of boots the other day. i'm usually an 11-12 and most boots that fit me were 11's apart from the frank thomas boots that i brought, which were a size 10 and fit me perfect, i think the only way to tell is to actually go and try some on to be honest mate, just leave the wallet at home! no way you can buy stuff then -
thanks, good luck to you two too!, an i think by the sounds of what the training company said, i'll have mine later this month, he said he calls up a couple of times a day, anyone cancels, i get the spot, so it's quite scary, haha
-
haha, thats just harsh, would have thought they could have let you off, but thats why i'm happy that i got it booked in after, just incase i don't hit the speed, although done it yesterday with my instructer, done 45mph practise, maybe a bit too high, but he said the breaking distance was fine
-
done two bike lessons upto yet and according to the training centre i'm up to standard booked for 15th june at the moment, but he said he will move mine to the next spot the second there is a cancellation , excited now although still going to do another lesson or two just to make sure i pass both mod 1 and 2
-
you can buy the disks, or if you have an ipod/iphone or ipad, you can download them from the appstore, which is what i done, and they are actually really good and helpful, if not there will be some on the internet too, but not many at all. also keep trying the theory though, cause i do believe that 44 is just about a pass, try and revise more just incase a question you haven't seen yet comes up, it gives you a bit of space for error
-
i done mine after a year on the road and a week revising and i honestly think i could have done it without the revision, it seemed to be just basic knowledge but i would say buy a practise disk, or use internet ones, worked great for me, oh an remember the practise for the hazard preception test too
-
good luck got my first 3 hour lesson for mod 1 tommorow, then depending what they say, i may have to book another for this saturday too
