  1. I went for a hefty chain which I leave attached to the fence in the work carpark, that way I dont have to lug it about with me and a Xena XN18 disc lock for if I have to leave it anywhere else. To be fair she really only goes from the lock up to work and back at the moment so dont really have a need for anything more serious
  2. just my tuppence, Been on four wheels for years, but two wheels are very new to me. The same things apply across the board though. Anyone who says they never speed is tellin fibs, but there is a difference between simply sticking the toe down (twisting the wrist now) and driving as road traffic conditions dictate. I always try and stick to the lower limits - there's too many hazards not to. Built up areas, narrower roads, traffic etc, its time to slow down and I dont mind holding up the traffic behind me. Motorways and better roads, there's nothing better than pushing it a bit. As long as it feels safe I'll keep going. While for the moment, the bike tops out under 70, I know my car will do far far more than twice the limit if I wanted to go there. Speed is not the be all and end all, but driving/riding safely and being able to pull up feeling good at the end of a run is amazing S

    Fork Seals

Having been riding for te grand total of 2 weeks, I've came out of work tonight to notice a small puddle of oil sitting in the rim of my front wheel. Looks like one of my fork seals has gone, I know one end of a spanner from the other, but as I'm a complete noob to bikes is it something I could attempt myself, or better off sticking it into a garage? Cheers Stewart
  4. Did you hear about the magic tractor? It went down the road and turned into a field!
  5. The instructor on my CBT said it could be an offence to ride with the face up as it is a structural part of the helmet but only works as one in the down position. He also said that his main concern is that the flip part does not lock fully in the up position and could therefore fall down while riding - could be a bit distracting lol
  6. Last time I had one like that on the car I used a set of Irwin damaged nut and bolt removers. Got them off ebay, but basically as you "loosen" the bolt the Irwin socket bites into the head and forces it off. Saved my *rse a couple of times lol
  7. yeah thats the one. down behind the townhall

  10. Hi Guys, I'm in Renfrew. Yellow Hyosung 125 should be sitting outside in a few days n hopefully I'll get to meet up with some of you Stu
  11. the instructor who had me out said he used it everywhere (avoiding the brakes obviously) and meant he could just rinse the bike off after a ride
  12. New to bikes myself, so someone will no doubt correct me, but assuming the paint finishes are the same as cars. Never ever use fairy liquid or any other washing up liquids on your paintwork - the chemicals in them will ruin the finish. Hose down with cold water, use a good quality car shampoo and rinse with cold water again - cold water will neutralise any road salt. Hot water will disolve the salt and drive it deeper into those nooks n crannies. After its been washed down spray / wipe everything down with something like ACF-50 which should keep the corrosion at bay. Chain should be cleaned and lubed regularly too. Stewart
  13. I done mine last weekend with Bike It in Murray Street, Paisley - Guys were great and took the time to explain everything. Was my first time on a bike and I felt comfotable all the way through.
