  1. Had a couple of set backs and the bike will need to be used to commute sooner than I thought, put it all back together again :P and low and behold, it doesn't bloody work, revs till 6 then dies.

So i'm going to get a new condenser and points at the weekend, do the timing and hope for progress, so I can continue with the few more bits I need to do before I can start pissing my money away on cosmetics.

Honestly will get some pictures up at some point. :P

And cheers fella, its good to be back on two wheels again! :D

  2. Got some bits done today, I had the carb cover and carb off so I can blast the cover back to silver as it has been painted black and I need to chuck my carb in the ultrasonics tank.

Pulled the vast majority of the old loom out

And whipped the head off for blasting also

Im unsure as to wether to run it without the airbox and a direct filter and swap the 97 main jet for a 100 and put colder plug in....

Watch this space, also, im after a fairing from a tz350 if anyone happens to have one knocking about

  3. Hello there guys.

I've been away for a while since my YZF got pinched but I'm back! :)

What I've done is bought a 1981 gp 100 and have ideas of making a retro racer sort of thing.

I need to ride to work on it most of the time aswell which doesn't help but it should be ok for the now.

On the list of things to do to begin with...

    Oil change

    Carb Strip and clean

    Fork seals,

    Both brake light switches,

    Secure indicators and headlight,

    Petseal the tank,

    New sparking plug,

    New chain and sprockets,

    New air filter,

    New brake shoes,

    New cable set,

    New wiring harness,

    New gips,

On the dreamy probably overly optimistic list of things to do in the near future...

Powder coat the frame and swinging arm silver,

Powder coat the tank and side panels racing green,

    Re chrome the forks,

    Re chrome the wheels,

    New side stand,

    New tyres and tubes,

    New rear light and indicators,

    New bars,

    Modern switch gear,

    Rear sets,

    Expansion chamber exhaust,

    Flat slide carb,

    Café racer tail section,

I'll update with Pics when I get on with a few bits, tomorrow after work. Please feel free to point out any jobs that need doing to a newly bought s*** heap before regular riding is to occour.

I will update this post as I go on.

    Cheers, Harry.

  4. Buy a £500 diesel car.

It will get you to work during winter, so you can do the overtime and earn the money to save up and buy a bike to enjoy in the spring.

With the ability to do overtime you'll soon find you've earned more money than you spent on the car.

    :stupid:

imo having a swish car is a waste of time spend tops 1500 quid and buy a bike when its hot (or not quite as cold at least)

days out on a bike will be 10x more fun! :)

and this is just my humble oppinion, but if you cant affort a 8k car off the bat you are a damn fool for thinking its a good idea to get one

  5. this has worried me lol i got the lot (boots, gloves, trousers, jacket and lid) for just shy of 300 queens faces all textile apart from gloves

i had an off at about 20-25 mph and i came off unscathed and only a hole in my knee and elbow even though the bike landed on my leg... was in the wet mind

neways, my point is that maybe you already had a rip?

but imo its all luck, if its all made to a certain standard (which i think it is because you have CE approved armour so i assume some other legislation cover the rest of the jacket also?) it shouldnt make a difference.

All that said i think i'd feel safer in full cow

  6. Basically, my bike doesnt have enough power to transfer enough weight to the rear round most corners at 50 mph +

this makes the front end very loose when giving it some.. so is there a technique i can use or a way to set up the suspension to transfer more of the weight to the rear...

i presume a softer rear spring but I dont really know my physics that well when it comes to bikes... i just ride it :P

  7. just because you can RIDE off straight away doesnt mean you should.

    1. start the bike

    2. you'll hear the revs pick up as the auto choke cuts in

    3. wait for the revs to drop back down as the choke shuts off

    4. have a cigarette and wait 5 mins for good measure

    5. ride

you dont really need to do this with fuel injection bikes. but i do anyway, just to be on the safe side :P
