  1. Registered in 2010. MOT till July 2020. 20K mileage but may go up as I still ride it. After market exhaust, dark blue screen, single seat cowl (originals will be supplied) and heated grips. New battery installed. 2 keys, owners manual/paperwork present. Part S/H. V5C. Rides perfect and a real head turner.

    Bad Bits:

Missing mirror blanking cap (shown in pic)

Age related marks but nothing that will stand out.

Test rides with Proof of Ins and asking price in cash in my hands.

  2. High fuel consumption, bogging down on idle and cutting out, poor restarting from hot - all suggests it's running rich to me.

Does not matter if the bike is hot or cold, if it cuts out then it is difficult to start again. Forgot to mention. Starting the bike in the morning is not good either. Majority of the time it will not start first time on the button but takes two goes.

  3. I have emailed them 2 days ago and they were supposed to get back to me with a collection date. Have not heard anything as yet so emailed again this morning. I think I will give them their third and final chance at repairing and then reject the bike if that does not happen.

  4. Whats the bike doing when it cuts out? Just stopping at the lights and it just cuts out or does it play up?

Just cuts out, revs drop when I pull in the clutch to change gear. Electrics all still work but it takes 4-6 starts for it to hold the revs at idle.

I mean it does not cut out if I am standing at lights or junction etc, it is when I pull clutch in to change gear.

When you try to restart it, does it fire up a little bit but not catch or is it compeltely dead?

Exactly that, I start it, rev it and then when I let go of the throttle, revs drop and bike dies.

  6. 3.7 gal tank. 120 miles = 33mpg

How much are you putting in to fill the tank after 120 miles?

From internet average fuel economy is about 35 mpg, so not far out.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I do not look at how much I put in really in Litres but I did put in £17 approx. yesterday @ £1.27 per litre.

  7. Hi All,

Looking or some help and advice.

I purchased the above bike less than 3 months ago from a independent garage and I have been having the following issues with it.

    1. When changing gear or stopping at a junction etc, the revs drop and then the bike cuts out. All electrics still work but it takes me 4-5 goes to get it started.

The garage took the bike back and the first time they could find no issues, I then installed a helmet cam and got footage of the problem, garage collected the bike and told me after a few days that the problem was the TPS, apparently it was out of sync. The bike now revs at around 1200rpm at idle. It has not so far cut out on me while changing gears or stopping at a junction BUT it does cut out on me after I start the bike and ride it few a few miles, this does not happen every time though. Again it takes a few goes for it start and stay idling as it should do.

    2. I barely get 120 Miles out of a full tank and that is riding like my grandmother. I keep it at 70mph, no acceleration, nothing. If I give it some beans, maybe once a ride short burst of speed etc, I get 100-110 Miles.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated as I am getting fed up.

    Thanks all.

  8. Hi All,

I am in the market to purchase a 600 Superports bike. Leaning towards either a R6 or GSXR 600. Will also consider a 650 Triumph daytona. I have a Budget of £3000 and live in East Northants so must be fairly local or willing to deliver to that area.

    Message with what you have.

Must have either a full S/H or all relevant receipts, all keys (not just one), full MOT or very close to one at any rate.

  10. Hi All,

Decided that this is going to be my new bike.

Looking for a Honda VFR800 VTEC around 2002 upwards with less than 30K on it. Hopefully with full luggage (not a deal breaker) full or very long MOT and also a S/H. Not too bothered about colour.

    Got around £2250 to spend.

If you have one in the garage and you are not going to use it this year, sell it to me as I have loads of places to visit this year on a bike.

    get in touch.

  11. Yes, still for sale. The price is non negotiable however. I've reduced it as much as I possibly can. For any less than 2500 I'd rather keep it under a sheet in the garage, sorry.

    And yes, it's a 2004

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok, Thanks for reply and pic. Good luck with the sale.

I did reply to your pm but I don't think it is being sent for some reason. There may be a problem with my private messages.

  12. Hi All,

Sorry for not replying. Family emergency etc.

Well, I have decided to join the AA just in case of breakdowns. Been riding bike for the last 3 days without any hiccups, starts first time on the button. Think it was a dodgy R/R and battery after all, will keep my fingers crossed.

Would like to thank you all for your help and advice, especially you STU.

    Thanks again.

  13. suzuki's are well known for shit wiring on the chargingat systems

I modified mine on off my TL1000s to get the full 14 volts at the battery as I was getting a lottle over 12.6v! just enough to charge it!

4 bits of wire and a few connectors saw 14v at the battery

shame your so far away I would have popped to lend a hand

Yes it is a big shame but that's life. Is that why I am seeing 13v at idle. Did not seem to charge if I Rev the engine.

  14. depends what you want to test?

    the output?

so we already know you are getting 60v minimum in which is good

what you need to test now is the output you should have two red cables coming out of it

put the red probe to one and the black probe to the battery negative this is with all the wiring connected up if you can get in

do this for both red wires

Excellent, I will do this tomorrow and report back. Thank you Stu

  15. something is not right!

you have my got the multimeter set to DC volts right?

if you have 60v at all three wires at the input then with a new reg/rec you see 14v or thereabouts

I check again in the morning. Will borrow my brothers meter as I am not 100% about mine. Brand new fully charged battery only reading 12.26v. Connected to bike shows only 11.96v but bike starts first time no problem.
