Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Can anyone tell me if it is worth de-restricting my bike or not? i am not a 'chav' kid rider , just commuting to work and back but have a long stretch of road that i would like to do 60mph on and i dont wanna knacker the engine! I havent taken it over 50mph yet as its only done 300 miles, easily does 50mph but if it is de-restricted what could i expect from it? any opinions??? Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Moved into Pitstop for ya Logan Pop a hello thread in newbies!!!Welcome btw Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Does your licence allow you to ride a de-restricted bike??Ie are you riding it on a CBT or have you passed your test?If your licence dont allow it, then please dont ask members about something which would in effect be illegal. Thank you. Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 sorry!! new to this biking lark!! just wanted to know if it made a performance difference asi have heard it talked about a lot.p.s I am also Hull, East Yorks! Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Put Hull in your profile And yeh it will make a difference.... and it will also invalidate your insurance riding it like that without the correct licence. You thinking about doing your test? How old are you? Quote
JoshRS Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 So it's only done 300 miles, so you're still riding it in? so you can't rev it as high i'm guessing is the position you're in?It's a 4stroke engine no? They can't really be derestricted, only tuned i believe. But just rev it a bit if it's doing 50 mph comfortabley. 125's should be more than capable of reaching 60 mph anyway. Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 iam 34 just done the cbt and sold my car to save on petrol, ive been told by another user that i should get about 320 miles from a full tank! if thats the case then iam a happy man. Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 cheers joshRS yeah its a 2008 yamaha vity 125 4 stroke which i bought out the local paper for £1250 Quote
Guest Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 its a scooter (Belt Driven), so you cant get away with the usual mods, like changing the gearing, it would still have the same power but you move the gear ratio/speed.. Quote
Guest Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Hi all, I just joined. Was led to believe that it's restricted through the exhaust, is this not true then?Thank you. Quote

mealexme Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Also, I have heard that de restricting 125's don't make much difference, so you may as well just not bother and save your money Quote
