hello3459 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 The bike has a loud ticking noise and the electric start has now decided to not work this moringing.... its not my week lol EDIT: it's coming from about where the spark plug makes its spark... I replaced this yesterday and it did this ticking/knocking noise with the old spark plug as well so is defiantly not that. Quote

Quote
Guest Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 if the petrols a year old, drain it and take it down to your council tip for junking, they can put it in with the waste oil, its no good for much else.. may as well drop the oil as well.fresh fuel and oil is a good starting point.. Quote

hello3459 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Hardly any petrol and oil both pratically empty so is there any need do ya think to do this? Quote
Colin the Bear Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 A ticking noise , may be a high tension short. Quote

Guest Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 if nearly empty, then fill with fresh fuel and oil. it should dilute the old stuf, and you should be good, get the bike running to give it the fresh fuel, and then see if you still have the same problems.. could be the plugs is soiled from old oil/fuelif you take the new plug out, clean it with a rag, and heat with a lighter (burns off the oil residue..) replace and see how you get on.HT short, the HT (High Tension) is a coil with converts your batteries 12v into the amps? required to pack the punch for the spark plug. hence why i can hold cross a battery and not get shocked, but a ht lead on pulse will make me jump.. hello3459 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 And would this be why the Electric start has decided not to work? and my lights are dimming on low RPM ???WOW i have alot of problems i just realised but i like things to be almost perfect so i want it to atleast run smoothly for the first 4 months of it on the road Quote
Guest Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 get the fuel and oil sorted, take the switchgear off the side with the starter button, could be you have a short on the inside of the switchgear meaning you have a short to earth, you will notice a worn through wire, add some tape and test...... Guest Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 take the seat and tank off and check the wiring, you could have arc-ed against the frame, (big Spark)look for burnt/molten plastic on the wiring, this goes back to a shorted cable thought earlier.... Quote

simon93 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Nothing like italian 50cc bikes! Haha. their engineering is rubbish!! lolElectric starts on these are CRAP!!! I've fixed mine a few times by whipping off the grey cover where the kick start is, and giving it a very GOOD clean with either petrol or white spirit. Mates is broken, makes a dinging noise when he starts it.Electrics are...okay, not excellent, check all yer wiring, over and over again, give the bike a good thorough clean with petrol or white spirit, works really well for me, take as much of it to bits as you can, and clean it thoroughly, fixes most problems on mine. The more you take to bits, the more problems you'll discover, and be able to fix.**and my lights are dimming on low RPM ???** - Lights dimming is normal. Know this doesn't help much, but its better than nothing i think!! Have fun!! Quote
