ok, so im gonna take a feed from my rear lights and want to add multiple devices to it.

i.e.

Starcom Unit

Radio

Heated Grips

Inforad Motorcycle GPS

and maybe more gadgets lol

whats the best way for me to do this?

i was thinking using a scotchlok to splice into the feed, but then i need something that i can add these devices to, maybe a terminal type block? any ideas?

Thanks

Wouldnt too many devices blow a fuse? What about directly to the battery

(one would hope you have a big/ decent battery) !

On my bike I've soldered all the connections and wrapped them in self-amalgamating tape. I have an Autocom under the seat, and a cable running under the seat and fuel tank to connect it to the sat nav. The cable is a multi-conductor type which carries power to the sat nav and also takes the audio back to the Autocom.

The plug I used is this one with a waterproof cover. The mating plug used on the sat nav is this one. (Note: don't attempt unless you're handy with a soldering iron, these little plugs are fiddly!)

Your heated grips will draw something like 50W on full power, which is a lot of extra current (about 4A) compared to the tail light. So, rather than connect them directly, I'd use the tail light feed to switch a relay, and connect the relay straight to the battery via a dedicated 7.5A fuse. This will mean you don't overload the wiring and shouldn't blow the fuse for the lights whenever it's cold!

I do, however, power my Autocom and sat nav directly from the tail light feed, as they're very low power. The Autocom also connects to a bike-to-bike radio, which uses its own internal battery.

Any other questions, feel free to ask :)

My set up is very similar to the set up you have on canyon chasers.

I use the rear light feed to trip a relay, and have an accessory rail which feeds everything i want. In line fuses on most of the stuff I use. Currently waiting for more to be delivered so I can fit them to each accessory.

I have fitted - fog lights, heated grips, voltmeter, connection for heated vest, sat nav...sure i have missed something ...

Just seeing this image has made me want to tidy up all the crap I have crammed into the battery terminals! It looks EASY!

i'll go simpler as i have done this...

take a feed wire from the rear light, to turn on the relay.

power the relay from the battery

earth the relay on the frame

use the output positive from the relay and run to a universal fuse block. loop it into each slot,

use this to power your accesories.

earth the accessories on the frame.

as you can see here the jumpers make each side positive and negative

was quite easy to make and will test it over the weekend.

I know someone who hooked one of these up in the way you seem to want (rear light) and hid it under the seat in a waterproof compartment. Looked like this...

That ran a GPS, an inhelmet telephone, some snazzy spot lights on his bike for riding in poor visibility and heated grips he rigged to a adapter. Not sure why he did that with the last one but meh... If it works it works i spose...

As for distributor blocks... Piece of piss... I would get fuses just in case as well but its a matter of putting the pos and neg wires and screwing them in isnt it? Or am i thinking of something else though it looks similar to what I used on a car once. Just the adapter pictured already comes fused etc etc. And its easier to plug things in apparently when its just under the rear seat.
