dixie Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I've noticed that my back wheel feels a bit wobbly...checked the bearings this morning and they seem ok, I have tight spot in chain though..could that be my problem? Tyre pressure ok too. Thanks Quote
Guest Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Could be caused by surging caused by the tight spots in you chain, also give the swing arm bushes/bearings a check to make sure they are ok. Quote
Guest Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 how do you mean wobbly...?again a chain with tight links isn't good, a good/thorough clean and lube may resolve this, also with the back wheel off the ground grab hold of the swing arm and try to move side to side, movement indicates new swingarm bushes/bearingsthen do the same with the wheel, again movement indicates new wheel bushes/bearings.. prob best to sit side on to the wheel and grab at 3 and 6 o/clock positions and try to push/pullalso check tyre pressures, and squared off tyres don't feel as good as new / rounded ones... scrowe Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 the tight spots will be an issue one way or the other.clean and lube it asap to loosen that up,check all bearing and bushes as in previous posts but also look to see if the cush drive is knackerd.what bike is it? Quote
dixie Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 When I say wobbly I mean as if the tyre pressure is low. Got a chinese honda CG copy. Am waiting for new chain and sprockets to be delivered so that should resolve some of the issue, back wheel seems to be ok movement wise but I'm new to this sorta thing and have no idea what a swing arm even is... Maybe get it into the garage.... Quote
Phill_vtr Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The swingarm is the bit that connects the rear wheel to the frame normally behind the engine. Where the swingarm mounts on the frame there is a bearing inside. If you have a centre stand, put the bike on it and check for play in the bearings on the swingarm and wheel. Quote
