skatefreak Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hey,Okay, i'm sure some of you are familiar with the problems i'm having with the old engine lol.Idling okay and can ride the bike up the road whilst the engine is still cold but once warmed up its a no go...Soooo, after doing pretty much everything imaginable with the carb (without changing jets as the bike ran fine before so i dont think the jets re-sized themselves lol) i'm looking at the exhaustThe exhaust end can blows pretty freely out the side where the carbon bits meet the end caps...Could this cause problems with the engine that seem like mixture issues?Any thoughts would be much appreicatedBest regards-Jvr Quote
Phill_vtr Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 If it's blowing freely out the side is it also blowing out the end? If not it could be blocked Quote
skatefreak Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 It blows out the back and forwards out the gap about the same really. When i put my hand over the back it comes out the side and hand around the side it comes out the back more...I'm just curious as to weather anyone thinks having exhaust blowing out randomly from the can would effect the running of the engine much, its one thing that i think has degraded over time and therefore may be the source of or a contributing factor to the bike not running properly...Best regards-Jvr Quote
Guest Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 is this at the can? or the head?at the can shouldn't effect muchthe manifold/head would be leaking gaskets Quote
skatefreak Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Just changed the head gaket, it seems to be just fine, engine side of the exhaust seems fine its just the can, am thinking it might reduce the back pressure to the engine, but its not a 2 stroke so i dont know if its as important Hmmm, will keep on slaving away though...Cheers for the input.-Jvr Quote
