hurtank Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 me and my friend just doing some work down around the ground of our bikes have noticed a very very small hole in the underside of my exhaust. its not anywhere thats going to cause damage to my engine or any of that. it would be extremely difficult for water to get into the hole. however. just out of curiosity will this hole cause any problems im not worried about the fumes it may cause becuase obviously they cant get into my helmet however im more worried about if it will do any damage to the engine. it looks like its been made with a pin. theres minor rust around it but i have started clearing it as its not set in properly. im just worried if im gnna end up needing to pay alot of money Cheers in advance. hurtank Quote
duane69 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I had something similar with my daughters ped, all's I did was take it off and braised it ( not welded )you will just blow holes in it with a welder Quote
Pete Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I had something similar with my daughters ped, all's I did was take it off and braised it ( not welded )you will just blow holes in it with a welder You could always wrap an exhaust bandage around it, but that'll look ugly and is only really temporary. I wouldn't leave it though, if it can be salvaged now that's great, but if you leave it then it can only get worse! Quote
Phill_vtr Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 If it looks like a drilled hole as opposed to a rust hole and it's underneath on the lowest part of the exhaust, it's possible that it's a condensation drain hole. If it looks like a rust hole, get rid of the rust and fill it with a high temp epoxy or simillar or as previously stated, braize it. Quote
skatefreak Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 JbWeld, Jb Weld, Jb Weld! Was playing with it last night and when mixed is nice and thick, sticky and cures like metal mouhahahaaCouldnt reccomend it enough! Its sealed my cracked crank case a treat -JvrPs, i think there is also a *gum gum* product of sorts thats good for exhaust, something like that, should sort out yr problem.
