lingy3 Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Done all last week & yesterday training for test (mod2) today at 3.pm, to be told this morning its off ,"48 hr. strike" .Don't blame examiners crossing picket line or such, just thought a few days wait.DSA phoned my instructor with end of March date.Having been at test centre on & off all last week (St Helens) no mod 1's, 1 or 2 mod 2's its a mystery why can't just do it tomor. What with bad Winter, drop in bike tests, & general attitude of DSA,my instructor reckons he's ready to call it a day.Total farce. scrowe Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 between the DSA and the Government they are really f**king things up for new bikers.i really feel for new bikers doing there test, it's so hard now and you wait so long to get a test with a low chance of a 1st time pass then the pull this shit and delay you even further (and you've paid for it too!!!).all you can do is stick with it. just be patient. i hope when ur test does come round you nail it so you can get out on the road! it will be worth the wait in the end.chin up mate! lingy3 Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 As an explanation dsa said the delay was down to examiners not being available.I've been told Bike examiners have to do car's also, so as far as I know there is 1 at St Helens who does both.By coincedence she was coming back off a test in a car while we were there on thursday last week.No mod 1's, no mod 2', test ( loads waiting via attempted booking) but the only available tester is doing car test's, It's a joke, I've been told a lot of the bike tester's from the previous system have been made redundant , I had to go to Atherton for mod 1, at least they seem to have a system , i.e 3 in morn (mod 1) 2 afternoon (mod 2).The cost of the whole thing is a big factor. fail mod1 on a das, add £80 +, for 2nd go,Fail mod 2 add £150 / £200, 2nd go, if your doing Das at original cost: / £500 / £700, Quote
asharin Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Honestly all this kind of crap (along with cost issues) is the reason why I am sticking with L plates and just renewing my CBT this year. Perhaps things will settle down soon and I'll get a chance to do my full test (funds willing) Quote
Ingah Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I get the impression the government really doesn't care if they put off new bikers and force the country onto 4 wheels (congestion, yay... :/). I'd bet my bottom dollar the only thing they really care about is reducing the death/accident statistics so it looks better, and as the death rate for 2-wheels is relatively high (probably largely due to the 16-year-old-scooterers and L-platers being included in with the fully licensed biker statistics, but hey-ho) the easy option is to push more regulated training down their/our throats (line of thought being that it's easier to inflict it on the minority than teach the majority how to drive safely). I highly doubt that the thought of making it prohitively expensive was a real consideration in their factoring. In fact, i bet some big-wig is secretly happy it's all been slowly choked off, as that'll massage his statistics all the more. Quote
scrowe Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 i dont think its even about saving lives. i recon its about filling the coffers wi cash!! thats it nothing more. Quote
lingy3 Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 It's official goin by this weeks MCN, Due to the 6 weeks bad weather & backlog car tests are being cleared.with bike testers helping out.All booking's for mod 1's have been put back till its sorted. Sez questions were asked about the prob by some M.P or other, & Gorden Brown passed the ball to whoever does the DSA. Young Learners (not that I'm 1 ) need to have an incentive to take some further training, instead of this sh*te. Quote
Guest Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Agreed. I shamefully bought that rag this week So read all about it yesterday. It is an absolute disgrace to my mind. Quote
