Well, where is the hole? In the silencer/can or in the downpipes?

Exhaust putty/instant steel will sort that fine. Hole in exhaust has the following effects;

1. lower MPG

2. less power

3. more fumes

But, these are miniscule and barely noticeable. When i fixed mine, i screwed a bolt into it, then sealed with exhaust putty, but since yours is only 1mm, just used exhaust putty :) Buy the good stuff!

Depending on it's position, it could be possible to fix with a putty (no, not a cat! :roll: )

I had 2 small holes appear on one side at the 2-into-1 section. Gave it a tickle with some abrasive paper, dusted off and persuaded some of my.....*ahem!*.....secret (i.e. long-term borrowed from work!) metal repair compound to go into and over the holes. That was mid-way through last year and the repair seems to be holding up!

Saying all that, I found a gorgeous replacement stainless system for mine in Germany! Just a tad out of my price range at the mo, i.e. greater than free!

Anyhoo, keep us informed please, Jinster!

....and is your phone broken again?! :wink:

Sorry for thread jacking, got a Cg125. My exhaust has 2 holes on the bottom about 2mm look like they've been drilled. One at the bottom of the down pipe the other at the bottom of the back box. I was told (down the pub) they were drain holes for condensation to prevent rust, is this not normal then? Its quite noisy, though it is an '85.

Gungum!

You can get it from halfords. Its a paste that hardens with heat. Hence, awesome for exhausts.

I bought some last year to seal some air leakages in my link pipes. Worked a treat.

Not very cosmetically pleasing though,

Before we go stuffing gum in to exhaust pipes, are we sure this isn't a little hole in an elbow joint or in the bottom of a can to stop water accumulating?

This is what I've asked, as mine is like this.

The ones that are supposed to be there will be in places where water will settle and are also perfect round drilled holes. Other holes are rarely as neat
