This is a completely retardo question I warn you, but still...

My ZX came with an Ohlins steering damper as stock and I have never adjusted it. It's been fine and I don't want to adjust it right now.

I was cleaning it earlier and for the first time noticed the damper move up and down slightly. Essentially it's bolted on with 2 bolts (one in the middle and one on the right) which are both solid, not moving, but loose. Thus the front of the damper can pivot up and down.

The question is then, is that right? I don't know whether it's supposed to be tight, or if I just didn't notice before.

if its same as the 1 in the photo both bolts need to rotate just check they are tight use a torque wrench on them so you dont over do it if you know what to do em to?

On the aprillia the whole thing is fixed solid - but I would of thought it would need some movement!

Are the bolts tight or has it got rotating bushings in it?

Yeah, the photo looks like the one. The bolts are tight, as in not going anywhere. I don't have any tools to move them. The whole thing will work in that it's all about side-ways movement but it just moves up and down as well as rotating on the middle bolt.
