killmach Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Hi, As you all know i've recently bought a 2001 zx6r. This is my first big bike and the first thing i've noticed is that the gear change is very noisy.I've had the bike for two week's now and the gear box seem's to 'CLUNK' alot. Now i appreciate that i'm new to the bike, but just wondering if this is a common thing with the Kwak or zx6, as i've been informed they can be quite noisy anyway. Seems fine when accelerating, just when travelling slow in low gear's. You seem to have to be very hard or rough (asertive)with the gear change. I get the immpression she don't like doin 30mph, ifeel i have to keep the rev range quite high and when i change at low speed, 'CLUNK' or miss and grind. Is this just me gettin used to the bike, are they renowend for this, or is their a problem ? Cheer's Killmach Quote
techno Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Mine does sometimes miss a gear but is no more clunky than other bikes have owned....What have you ridden before? Quote

Only the Aprilia rs125, which are clunky anyway.I don't know if it's because i'm keeping it low rev. due to bieng new to it or because it's restricted and it won't rev past 10,000 anyway. It's probably me bieng paranoid, but just wondered if anyone had an opinion Quote
