HJC FS-11

Its a new (I think) lid from HJC and its got an air pump inside to inflate cheek pads etc. for the optimum fit.

As someone who appreciates a nice tight fitting lid, this looks very attractive to me...

...anyone have any experience?

Reminds me of the Reebok pump days!

I have heard of this and I reckon all helmets should be made this way - easy on - easy off and pump up the lining for the perfect fit.

I'm tempted to order one, check it out and send it back if just a gimmick... there are loads of online retailers that allow you to return lids and I have called around local HG and J&S stores and they don't have them in.

I think it does sound a bit gimmicky but if it works, and provides a good fit everytime, thats worth a lot. I've found like most of you I'm guessing that over time the helmet does loosen a bit, especially with heavy use, so any way of ensuring a good fit each time must be good.

I'm surprised this hasn't been implemented years ago. My american football helmets have had them for at least 15 years maybe longer.

I was speaking to the gaffer at a bike gear shop near me (who sells the Scorpion 'pump-up' lids) he reckons there a gimmick, too much to go wrong and too expensive to fix.

Also if something packs in mid ride you'll be left with an ill-fitting helmet until you can get home.

and also,if your head gets bigger or smaller, you wouldnt have to buy another lid, another reason why i dont think they would be any good :(
