How much is your head worth??

Check out some of the guides in this section. Personally, I wouldn't skimp on a crash helmet.

I would try and find a decnt make but an older model never paid more than 100 quid for any of mine.

Box BX-2, scored 4 of 5 stars on the sharp test, comfortable fit (for me anyway) and costs £30 - £50 depending where you buy it.

Only downside is wind noise, but then my old AGV that cost near £200 (and was less comfy) had the same problem too...

if your feeling patriotic the "NITRO N1100-VN" is a good helmet, search for it on ebay, its sold by ghostbikes, brilliant company.

nice helmet too, its well padded, looks good and is really comfortable too. the vents are as much use as t*ts on fish but other than that i cant fault it.

also the "arashi 888" is fu*king lovley!!! ive got that one aswel, sold by the same company on ebay.

Its at the top end of your budget but worth it!! very comfortable!!! built in bluetooth so you can take phone calls and listen to music on the move, the vents are brilliant, its a flip front too so you can talk to people and eat ice cream when youve got it on haha. its also got a little flap of material to stop your chin getting cold too :D

i really cant fault it, i use it every day and its the best £50 ive spend in ages.

Hope that helps Andy

I dont believe in the "Cheap helmet, bad idea" business ... just go on the Sharp site to see the helmets safety rating .. it speaks for itself, IMO £300-£500 helmets are usually just about name and extra function ... perhaps better sound proofing etc but a cheap helmet with a 4 - 5 star rating is as good as a expensive helmet with the same safety rating !

For example ...

I bought a cheap (ish) Nitro 1600-VN helmet (£89, but you can get them cheaper)

It has a 4 star safety rating NITRO 1600-VN Safety Rating , good enough for me ... and saved me loads !!!

Heres a Name brand with a meer 3 star rating and this one costs £449.99 !!!!!!!!!

http://www.phmotorcycles.co.uk/clothing/motorcycle-helmets/RX7-Corsair-Helmet

Heres its safety rating on the SHARP site - CLICK ME

So ... Find a cheapish lid .....check the safety rating http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ then go try it on to see if it fits .... then buy :D
