cypek Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I have my theory test this Monday and I'm really scared of hazard perception part:( I have a training DVD and I'm practicing every day but I'm struggling. I keep clicking too soon or not at all. As I had my car licence for over 10 years and those situations on videos are rubbish. Either I see hazard sooner than I should or I don't class it as a hazard:( My other mistake is I keep trying to click only once and in perfect moment. I know I can and even should click when I first see hazard and when it develops:( Can anyone tell me are those videos on actual test much different to those training DVD ones? Its hard enough to do questions in foreign language... Ehh, I hope it won't be that bad Quote
Guest Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 from what i know, the hazard perception is exactly like that.they sit you in front of a screen and tell you to click when you see a hazard.keep in mind, you can click when there is no hazard at all, my instructor pointer out to me that he had nearly 30 clicks on a single video because he saw things that HE considered a hazard that the video didn't. He still passed, you don't get marked down for too many clicks, the only thing to be aware of is clicking patterns (i.e. if you click every second to make sure you get it, the computer will pick up on that and auto-fail you).it is daunting i have the same thing on my test revision software and have failed a few times, just keep at it and you'll get there.good luck Quote
TC Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Its something to do with (well i was told) The hazard is split into two parts.A Developing HazardAn actual HazardSo by clicking to early you are selecting something that has not affected you yet.The whole thing IMO is rubbish. The only thing i would suggest is keep practising and make a note of when you should click to get Maximum points and just click that point on the test. Guest Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I too was also worried about the Hazard Perception part of the test ... I'd been driving a car for 20 years and when I first started doing the test clips I failed. Usually I clicked too early and then didn't click until the hazard had well developed. The test Hazard Perception dvd's are very good and like the actuall test. What worked for me though is that I approached it as if I was the driver of the car (which I assume is the point ) and every time I would think of taking my foot off the accelerator I'd click the mouse. If I had to move my foot off the accelerator and then go to apply the brakes definitely click as this is likely to be the actual hazard developing. The software definitely picks up on sequential click patterns as mentioned above (e.g. clicking every 1 second). On my actual Theory test, I found them to be alot easier and what also worked is that when I saw a hazard I clicked on then waited at least 2 seconds and clicked again ... just to be sure!Good luck and just take your time ... they are definitely not difficult and you can pretty much guess what type of hazard you'll encounter (e.g. on a country road either look out for horses or oncoming traffic on a narrow road and in a town look out for road signs, cars pulling out/in, etc.) Quote
Guest Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 When YOU see it - click onceWhen you see it happen OBVIOUSLY (as in, you know they are pointing it out) - click oneWhen it develops - click oneAs its happening- click once(only if you havent clicked any more/at other times ) as its finishing - click once...Id usually click every time something is kinda obvious (someone wanting to walk across the road) regardless weather they are going to or not. cypek Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 Thanks for your advice guys. My test score went from 30ish to 50+ish lol:) I was just really scared of clicking too often and tried to click only once on every clip. Now I know I can/should click a few times:) Roll on Monday!! Quote
