Guest Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 hmmmm.... is it a case of a little bit looks clear but a lot looks brown?Isn't this your new bike? Its not likely to need changing is it? Quote
craig Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 don,t know when it was last changed dan just noticed it was a bit low Quote
Guest Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 should be changed every 2 years , if my memory serves me correctly .. Quote
craig Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 think i will just change it then m8,for what its costs Quote
Revvin Kevin Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Just flush it out and replace with new, easy job Quote
Lumor_uk Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Brake fluid turns darker the older it gets, sounds like it needs replacing. Quote
Fozzie Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Just use the bleed nippled (hehe... nipple *slaps face*) and drain it and then either top it up as you go as I tend to do as im lazy or bleed the system with new stuff Quote
Stu Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 as has already been said above brake fluid needs changing every 2 years it will go darker with age/deteriation of your hoses and seals i would change it and check your pads to see how low they are theres a reson your fluid is low possible your pads are worn right down and the pistons are right out so more fluid in the lines also while your at it do the fronts Quote
archiec Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 if pads need replacing do them first coz if you fill fluid up then push the pistons back in it will spill all over the place and some bikes you can let gravity change the fluid so no need to bleed the normal way Quote
j4ff Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Are they both the same DOT?I recently changed from 4 which is slightly brown/yellow to 5.1 witch looks clear like water. Quote
