Edgey Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 So as I came off the other day (as posted in Bike Chat) I am looking at getting new rearsets as my footpeg has completely snapped off and I have a bit of brake lever peg stuck in there as you can see on photos below. My problem is that my bike bieng Taiwanese, there are no specific rearsets for them, been looking at universal ones and the only ones with measurements don't fit.http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/edgey_15/Motorbike/DSC00839.jpgThe brake rearset connects to the bike at points A and B, the distance between these is roughly 82mm, point C is the connection between the lever and the brakes, from B to C it is roughly 50mm.http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k84/edgey_15/Motorbike/DSC00840.jpgThe gear rearset connects to the bike at points D and E, the distance between these is also roughly 82mm, point F is the connection between the lever and gears, from E to F it is roughly 60mm.I have emailed Megelli but they may take a while to respond so thought I would ask for some advice where to look, are there different types of rearsets? are they all completely different for each bike? Couldn't find much information on them via google. Thanks all. Quote
Guest Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 undo brake peg, fit boltwith a locknut, (tighten nut to brake arm to lock).you should be able to get a foot peg, with out getting the whole assembly. Quote
Edgey Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 You make good points there WF, only problem is that there doesn't seem anyway to get a new footpeg with my tools. The small bar which would go through the footpeg to hold it on doesn't seem to have any way of coming off, no nuts on either end of it, just two differing heads, had a go at prizing each end off with a flathead screwdriver but failed, if there was a way of getting it off I could replace it with a bolt but I cannot cut through pure metal. Voodoo Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 is there was a way of getting it off I could replace it with a bolt but I cannot cut through pure metal. The washer underneath is not a full washer, its a C shaped washer so should be able to be removed. Quote
Edgey Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 You were right, it is a 'C' washer and I am now able to get that footpeg attachment pin out and in turn, attach a new footpeg, just got to wait for the delivery of a new peg now which will accept a pin of 8mm diameter.Much better idea than getting new rearsets, cheers Frankie and Voodoo!
