I fell off my bike last week at Brands Hatch. I got a corner wrong, rode onto the grass, panicked, braked and the front tucked. The damage to me and the bike was minor however I'm not sure if I damaged my helmet. I don't think it took any impact however there was a small grass stain on the side so it must have contacted with the ground whilst I rolled. If it's damaged then of course I'll replace it but I'm loathed to bin a £400 AGV lid as a precaution. Any thoughts?

is it possible to get in touch with there customer support i know some manufacturers will take it back and inspect it then advise you if it needs replacing or not.

Can't advise on whether you should replace it or not.

I do know that AGV are running a 'scrappage scheme' just now, meaning you can get 25% off a new AGV lid when you hand in a used helmet (any brand, any condition). I tested this last week when I handed in my girlfriends knackered X-Lite and got £80 off a new AGV for her. The 'scrappage scheme' also applies to Dainese kit, tested this one too with my girlfriends cut in half textile jacket.

Where does this, do you have to go somewhere specific?

AGV website is a bit vague, all the AGV/Dainese stockists near me are doing it.

I would ring around some of your local shops and see if they are doing it. I know the Dainese ProShops are all doing it, they stock AGV too.

If your questioning it then I would say replace it when you can afford to (asap, dont put it off for too long) simply down to the fact that none of us were there, but you were and you know what sorta contact happened.

if it was jsut a scrape rather than a bump (ie. no knock to the helmet) then dont worry about the paint job. When I had my off, I know i didnt hit my helmet, but while I was lieing on the ground i scraped my helemt along the road a bit, so it looks scuffed but I havent impacted with it, so I will still happily ride with it.

Overall, if your asking the question then I would say replace it, you got spare arm, spare leg, spare lung even, but only one noggin
