techno Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Have noticed that as a bike forum there really does seem little interest and threads on motorcycle racing. So just curious really how many people actually do watch it and what they watch and if they actually have an opinion on what they see.Surely there maybe some discussions that will out way who has the lightest dust caps, or which indicator bulb should I buy!! Guest Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I watch it if it's on, but don't know anything about it, just like to watch the nice shiny bikes wizz round the track! Pretty much the same on the F1 too! Quote
Jimmi_929RR Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I also watch it if it's on but i missed the MotoGP yesterday because i was out riding and forgot to switch the cable box on at the wall (had it set on record). Am i mortified? Sadly not really. I watch the highlights of the BSB/WSB too, but it's not the same as the live races and again i'm not that bothered if i miss it.My fave is the TT / NW200 etc which i do mind if i miss. Unfortunately, we don't get coverage of the other races so that's done for this year. I've never done a track day, so i find it difficult to relate to most of the short circuit stuff, whereas with the TT etc (although i obviously don't ride like they do) i feel i can because it's on public roads and i can admire them going 200mph on roads i'd be scared doing 40mph on. oldgreg01 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I watch. I also noticed there were never any threads discussing the races and goings on, so assumed there was little interest. I'm also not that knowledgeable so don't have a whole lot to say. Will join in though. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 if it involves motorcycles it gets watched in this house!Helps the wife enjoys it too.we go to races to watch too.. Quote
Guest Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I like to watch it, but never know when they are on or the times, and just generally forget about it.If i knew when they where on and i remembered, then id watch it. Quote
starkey Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I like to watch it, but no Tv so only get to see the highlights on youtube! Quote

I'm guessing that as you're a family man then you'll not be watching it live on the big living room tv but on a little one in the shed or at least a bedroom somewhere so don't make out you're the boss in your house, I'm not that stupid. 2fast2soon Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Yeah, I try to watch all of the MotoGPs and the Moto2. The 125s don't interest me as I'm not interested in racing lawnmowers, leave that to the 10 year olds Go on Fozzie3000, take the bait, take the bait... Gave up on sky sports so can't watch the WSB or BSB, I did try to find it on the internet but lost interest as the coverage was patchy.Am liking the MotoGP, shame about Valentino but its still pretty interesting as Pedrosa was great then crap again and the Stoner/Hayden battle is good to watch. Spies is a bit of a disappointment for me, I read all the hype and expected him to take it to the aliens, I suppose he did in Silverstone. Maybe next year he'll be a real week in week out threat to the podium. Unless injury intervenes, the championship is Lorenzo's, I feel it might have been anyway as he is as good as Rossi if not better. Lorenzo looks like he has stopped crashing and started to put in the consistent quick laps that win races, boring but effective.I think MotoGP needs more passing tracks like Silverstone as its not interesting to watch someone bang in 21 damn near perfect laps, I want passing and forced mistakes making the lead change 2 or 3 times per lap. Before anyone mentions Lorenzo at Silverstone, yeah him and the bike were leagues ahead but everyone else swapped places throughout the race.Moto2 is just great for the crazy numbers all entering the corner at the same time. I love a good crash, the one in Le Mans where the riderless bike took out De Angelis was priceless. Bad for him but hilarious to watch. They've also got some pretty impressive riders in there. You've also got to respect the riders that put the bikes into the corner sideways (well, slightly sideways), looks fantastic.Go on then Techno, which races are you watching and why? Quote
techno Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 lol thats exactly where I would be watching it!!.I paid for it so its mine when i want it apart from the fact the wife prefers to watch stuff upstairs anyway The only ones I dont watch are bsb this year dunno why I have lost interest in it, will be recording assen and the world supers to watch when I get home from the rally this weekend.generally when at home watch all the televised sessions!Oh and I agree about lorenzo but I had him down as champ this year anyway shame he couldnt win it with valentino riding! adam1979 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Another Moto gp fan here. Watch it whenever I can but I work every other weekend so miss quite a lot of them. Quote

Moto gp race is on BBC 3 or BBC 2 live. The 125 and moto2 races are live too, but you have to press the red button to get multiscreen. Also if you miss any of the races they are on iplayer for a week afterwards.ITV 4 has BSB highlights. You can pay £2.50 a month to watch eurosport online which has WSB. Jixerman Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I had my Sky box set to record both series of WSB and MotoGPBut thats because I dont often get the chance to watch it while its happeningTo my horror someone (and that person is not owning up at the moment) has deleted the series record on MotoGPI have to say I do tend to lose track on the points and who is where in the championship though Really pleased with Leons performance on the Alstare Suzuki Quote

Just watched silverstone on iplayer. Redding was awesome, gutted for him that he didn't get on the podium.I think spies is doing pretty well. He's disadvantaged in that a lot of the circuits are new to him. But at silverstone where it was new for everyone, he showed he could run near the front. He's not on a factory bike either remember.WSB isn't bad. The problem is the Aprilia is getting better and better and it's starting to look like Biaggi is going to run away with it. Hopefully Haslam can find some more speed from his bike and fight back. Quote
duane69 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I watch all the racing motogp, wsb, bsb(not sure about the new rules)and ama.sometimes even watch the motocross and supercross but don't really follow it.used to watch at a lot of club meets but not now. Quote

He's not on a factory bike either remember. That Tech 3 bike he's on is the best non-factory bike in the paddock, him and Edwards should be right on the tail of the Hondas and Ducatis every race. Tech 3 is so well supported by Yamaha it might as well be a factory team.He never knew the circuits in WSB. Why aren't you in work? Why does my tax money go towards your holidays? You get more time off than teachers... Quote
techno Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 Actually there was a strong rumour about spies bike at silverstone as someone asked where some of valentinos parts were going Maybe thats why it was there for all to see!! Quote
2fast2soon Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 It wouldn't surprise me if they just resprayed Rossi's bike in the monster livery and gave it to Ben. Yamaha must be concerned that the last act of Rossi's career will be to get an Italian racer on an Italian bike to the number 1 spot. Rossi hasn't got many more years in him. Lorenzo is going to have to be Yamaha's number 1 but Spies will be their number 2, someone to use in negotiations to say to Jorge that he can be replaced if push comes to shove. This season should still have some interesting races in it but the real interesting times will come at the end of the season when everyone's contracts are up. I'm excited about this already, hopefully everything will be mixed up a bit and we'll get to see Rossi on a Ducati, Spies on the real Yamaha and Stoner on a Honda. Then 2011 will be really good! Quote
spunky1976 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 isn't spies already set to be rossi's replacement when he retires, i'm sure i've heard that somewhere. Either way the guy is a bit special and fully upto speed with everything we can expect to see him on the podiums a bit more Quote
