Guest Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Hey. Newbie here, and needing a little help please?I've got an old Yamaha FZ400. It's a runner, starts up without any problem, sits and ticks over, runs etc no trouble. The problems start after about 3/4 mile, when it just cuts out and won't restart. Turns over ok, just doesn't restart. Leave it a little while to cool back off and it'll restart, but then just repeats.Fuel? I thought it had pulled some rubbish into the tap and was being blocked. Nope. Pull the pipe off, petrol pours out. I even put a filter in there to make sure. I've checked the spark, ok to all plugs, even after it's died. Checked the carbs, and I think everything seems to look ok.I've had the bike for some time and I'm desperate to get it on the road..... I'll seriously check out any suggestion, I'm honestly at a loss. Anyone able to offer any idea?Cheers! Quote
Guest Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Moved into Pitstop for you Why not pop into newbies and say Hi!! Sounds like you have done the sensible stuff ... sure someone will be along soon with half an idea ... (unlike me ) Quote
Stu Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 could be a blocked breather on the petrol tank causing a vacuum and stopping fuel going through or if the fuel tap works off a vacuum it could have a split in it and not opening the tap properly Quote

fullspizz Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I know that some GSXR's do this and the regulator / stator are the common problem. Most start fine and only when the bike is hot they cut out. Once cooled back down they start fine again. Quote
