Guest Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I know it sounds like a stupid question, but this is only my second lid, and I think I made the mistake of getting one too big the first time round. The Small, is really tight on the top of my head and forehead, but perfect on the cheeks, I obviously this would give, but I think in the meantime, it may cause a headache! The Meduim is just right on the top of my head and forehead, which makes me think that maybe it would become too loose. The meduim also moves just a little, but it is the scorpian lid I'm after so the cheeks inflate and make it quite snug. So should i bare with the small and hope that it gives enough or get the M.I know this is an answer I should only ask my self, but I thought theres no harm in putting it out there. I had decided on M in the shop but came away questioning it! ARGH!!!! I should add, when i measure my head it is the size that the M is listed as! Quote
2fast2soon Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 If its painfully tight then its too tight. Should be snug but not hurt. I'd go for the medium if I were you, you can always put more lining in it or wear something on your head if it gives a bit too much after break in.Have you tried other brands for fit, it may be that Scorpion helmets aren't right for your head. I have this issue with Shark, they just don't sit right on my bonce. What was the other option from the title: how to decide between S&M and ... ? On second thoughts, I'm not sure I want to know, it might be too kinky Quote

Guest Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Yup I have, KBC don't feel like there long enough on the front, HJC are the same, Shark feel to big, I can't feel the top of the lid, I've got an AGV now and never been 100% happy. I think the fit of the scorpion is fine, I'm just worried I'm going to make the same mistake again, but I've looked into it and you can buy the internals, so It should be fine if it gives to much! queen bodecia Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Ruthie, neither of the helmets you describe are right for you. Get some advice from your dealer about ensuring the correct fit. Quote

If the meduim moves already then I would say it is maybe a little too big (bearing in mind any advice any of us give is based on how you describe so cant be that accurate). I wouldn't like to rely on the pumps on the helmet alone although i'm sure they are safety approved as I wouldn't feel THAT secure with it. Mine is secure without the cheeks inflated, they just make it more-so. If the meduim moves before the padding has given a little then I would say wrong size. It may jsut be that scorp helmets don't fit you. One last thing though, scorp helemts are angled forwards compared to caberg (my only point of reference) if you place your finger under your chin and theres no helmet inline with or below then the helmet should be tilted forwards more (so that the helmet is the 1st thing to imopact with the road rather than your chin). How this comapres to the other makes I dont know, but caught me out a few times after switching brands. Quote
John doe Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Go to a shop with loads of different brand lids try them all on in the same size, you'll soon know which makes fit your head properly. Quote

Yeah there is helmet below my chin, this is where i struggle with the other brands my chin alway is below the line of the helmet. The movement was only slightly with the Meduim and I mean only slightly, to be fair even though the S was tight its still moveable to a point! Lets face it getting it on and off is a movement. I think the Meduim is fine, I just needed some reassurance that I wasn't making the same mistake as last time. Though I do like the fact tht you can buy the internals again, should they give to much, So I could get the Small should it give to much. Thanks guys Quote
spafe2302 Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Sounds like your quite set on the M then, good luck with it, hope all this convo was for moot anyway and you never test it Let us know how it goes Quote
Guest Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I am Lol! I've ordered it and he said that I can always send it back no worries, coz i suppose five minutes in a shop with a lid 100's of people have tried will be different. Thanks though guys appreciate it! Quote
Guest Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 the right fit is the most important thing, you may be able to get the cheek pieces altered (next size up / down) I'm led to believe Arai / shoei do this, at shows like BMF.. (removable cheek pieces..) Quote
