Hi! new to this forum so i hope ive put this in the right place! i have recently bought my first bike being a gpz 500 s and it needs an oil change.when i look in the owners handbook it says i need 3 litres of either GRADE=se,sf or sg class and the VISCOSITY has to be either=sae 10w40,10w50,20w40,or 20w50.i have no idea which would be the best oil to put in the bike, and secondly is car oil the same as bike oil? any advice would be most appreciated, thanks!

Hi There.

Don't use car oil in your bike, car oil can contain friction modifiers, which reduce friction in engines, but bikes have wet clutches, which means the clutch actually runs in the engine oil, and car oil can contaminate it and ruin it :(

Something like Halfords semi-synthetic bike oil will be perfect for your bike, no need to spend a fortune on anything fancy :)
