Either get a 2 stoke or get a bigger bike really

2 stokes create more power than 4 stokes and no matter what you do, you'll probably struggle to get 80 out of it.

Yep, you could probably get 80mph out of R125 but others like YBR or CG will struggle to reach 70. And chinese ones are even worse. Mines top speed is 55mph (downhill lol) and that is a CG125 engine copy... You could always change your friends for ones with mopeds, that will make you the fastests

As said, a 4 stroke will never get to the power of a 2 stroke by sheer design, that said 4 strokes require less maintinaces etc etc etc...

If you'r dead set on keeping up with your mates look for an old NSR125, with a little work they can hit 95-100 (2 stroke of course  ).

It is the depend on the person. If Person have afford the maintenance for the 4 stroke as easier. Then It should be good for them. But I have noticed that I having get 70mph on my CBR1000rr as well with 2 stokes. I know that It is not top speed as I thought. But I am sure that I will beat the over 80mph as far as soon.

my CBR 125R is a four stroke also and has a full race exhust and will only just hit 80 and when you take into acount the 10% speedo error it is only doing 72mph the only way to get any real improvement without makeing the engin bigger is to get sprokets with one or two teeth extra on fitted but doing this lowers the pullaway speed and will make it take evan longer to hit top end so unless you are going tobe sitting at 70+ for long periods it really is not worth doing you can also fit race air filters and gas plugs but this will not make much if any diffrence for the amount it will cost for the parts and the effort of fitting them. if you are ridding on L's you also need to be careful not to increase the power above 14.6 hp so bear that in mind if you do fit a new exhust it really is worth saveing your money up to do you full licence and get a bigger bike or change it for2 stroke but then you need to takein to acount for the extra maintnce and engin rebuilds

my opinion do your full test and go bigger
