The best advice you'll ever get for cleaning leather and textiles is this...

Don't do it. Get scrubbers leathers to do it instead. They're the people all the bike mags use, they've been doing it for years and they know far more about the materials the kit is made from than you ever will.

I used to clean my own stuff, it was a hassle and I was never convinced my textiles were as waterproof after. I'm now converted, I spent more money on stuff to clean my kit than they change to do it all for me.

Seriously, Google scrubbers leathers.

If you don't have £60 spare or your leathers/fabric just needs a wipe down then check the manufacturers label inside to see if you can wash them (fabrics) and ensure you take out all the protection etc.

If its leather then i use beeswax and have done since the Army day's. Cleans and protects leather, you need to spend some time working it into the leather but time spent preparing saves time spent cleaning in the future.

:stupid:

i've used baby wipes to wipe down leathers and my lid, and a wet cloth works as well..

you'll find it easier to do it when wearing them...

Check out the V2 sponges for cleaning your visor while out and about. They come in a sealable plastic bag so they stay wet for weeks. Stick one in your jacket pocket and forget about it until it's needed.

getting flies off visor, well best way is to soak it in some warm water for a bit, before whiping it off with a non-abrasive cloth.

For my visor I just lay wet kitchen roll over it, leave it for a few mins and all the flies wipe straight off... Wipe dry with dry kitchen roll and voilla :)

For cleaning your visor & helmet for that matter, the best way i have found is to use your tongue as the acid in the saliva destroys the chemical toxins in the dead bugs thus enabling you to clean it easier without using toxic products. A simple wipe down with a clean cloth finishes the job.!
