Had a spill.

Ok everyone...

Riding home on the evening of the 21st, pulling up to traffic lights in the pouring rain, braking as you would normally in that situation, and the front end of the bike slides away from me under braking and I hit the tarmac.

This was my first fall and it bloody hurt, even though it was low speed (15-20mph, thank f**k for Harley armoured leathers) the bike has taken a big hit. Most of the damage is cosmetic, but the rear brake pedal assembly and footpeg has broken off, and the front end has been bent in some way (it doesn't steer straight anymore) and its now in the local bike shop.

I honestly don't know what to do about it, want the bike back so much....but don't know if i can afford to get it repaired, espeacilly if the front end is out of line.

Can anyone offer advice on this? As i plan to do my Direct Access soon so i don't know if its worth getting it fixed.

Thanks

See what the garage says needs doing, take it home and do it yourself over the winter.

But unfortunatly i'm not sure i have the time. Work mostly. (I work 12 hour shifts 6 days a week)

If you've not got the time then i'm afraid its the garage then.

But you'd be working the pay the garage

mate of mine (well the missus son) dropped his 125 on a run broke the rear footrest which holds the brake,, ebay and 20 notes and a little spanner time had it fixed.. could be your front just needs straightening in the yolks, (Like your push bike) unless the forks are bent... how fast was the spill,

Dunno about the front end yet, waiting for the evaluation from the garage then we'll see.

As for ebay-ing parts, i don't do that anymore, bad experiences with parts bought on there. :(

The spill was at about 15-20mph while braking in the pouring rain

(Never had such a derpessing feeling than when I went out into the back garden this morning and theres just an empty space where my bike should be :( )

OK guys, topic closed. :)

Local bike shop has offered to repair all the damage* for £200 including labor & VAT. Not a bad deal all things considered.

*Bent forks, broken brake pedal, broken master cylinder, damaged rear caliper & brake discs, ruined indicator and mountings.

all that for £200? when a van reversed over me on my bike i had a similar list of damage and the repair bill would have been £1500!
