Isn't there a thermostat? If it is then the temperature should be high to open it and make water circulate... At least thats how it is on cars, not sure if its the same on bikes...

Sorry, I was a little vague, am flushing the cooling system on a fazer 600, removed the water pump bolt/drain bolt at the bottom in order to drain the coolant and flush through, however the water i've added won't go through, I'm pretty sure i'm being stupid and doing something wrong, but can't figure out what it is

Strange, so you have filled up the rad with the bolt out, yes? Have you tried moving the bike around etc?

When was it last changed? I mean, possibly have a build up of sludge, so blocked system?

Worst comes to worst try filling up system, and running the bike for a bit, get a bit of pressure in to it then drain it?

I don't think the thermostat has anything to do with it, but I could be wrong.

yeah I don't think the thermostat is the problem, gave the bike a good shake...nothing, will work on the bike in the morning, run it for a bit, hopefully it's jsut a blockage of sludge like you say, praying it's not an expensive fix!

What bike is it mate?

If you still can't get it fixed and google is of no avail, may be worth taking the pipes off/taking the pump off and see if you can get it drained that way.

Can't see why it wouldn't drain tbh.

Ha I know i'm a beginner but yes ive been putting coolant in the radiator not the burp tank. It's a fazer 600, burp tank was empty when i got it, no coolant drained when removing the drain bolt, i'm hoping the head gasket hasn't gone!

if no coolant drained out either you had none in it or the drain hole is blocked after you remove the bolt get something that is small enough to go into the hole and seeif that helps it to start draining i assume drain bolt in on the water pump?failing that remove the hose off the water pump and drain it that waythen remove pumpand clean it up new gasket and refit
