Guest Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 hi there last couple of month 1st thing in morn i start my honda hornet 600 and get alot of white smoke for about 5 mins then slowy goes to a little bit. I done a oil change about 3 month ago and tha was a bit of creamy Residue on the screw in part of dipstick and a lttle bit inside. I put engine flush in and done oil change about a week ago and white smoke still there mostly on the morn for 5 mins and creamy Residue is there again. Is the gasket going surley i shouldnt be gettin creamy Residue in oil part after oil change 1 week ago any ideas Quote
Stu Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 the creamy residue is water mixed with the oil are you only doing short trips on the bike? if so it will be just condensation in the oil as its not heating up fully and the condensation is not burning off check for coolant loss too worst case it could be head gasket but its probably just the cold weather Quote
Guest Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 yeah is short trips m8 10 mins ride to work and 10 mins back iv checked coolant thats fine ill take it out for a good razz. Just thought id ask people with Experience like yourself just dont want gasket to blow bike has 29.000 on clock and have big bill thanks m8 Quote
Stu Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 defo just condensation then take it for a good ride a 10 min ride isnt enough to warm it up properly Quote
Stu Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 ride it hard Riding it hard doesn't mean it will warm up properly! You have to give the oil time to warm up and to dissipate the moisture Quote
TC Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 ill take it out for a good razz. Yeh Take for a Good RAZZ Not heard that for ages Quote
cyberwolf Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ride it hard Riding it hard doesn't mean it will warm up properly! You have to give the oil time to warm up and to dissipate the moisture go out for a ride for hour or 2 Quote
Fozzie Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Razz the fook out of it for about 20 miles straight, not from start. Let it warm up and then ride through town and then get somewhere you can open it up a bit. That way it heats up in town and then when you get out onto more open roads and open it up you've got it running fast and its warmed up and the oil is circulating freely. The white smoke is normal. My CBR600 does that and it dies down after 5 to 10 minutes. Think its just moisture being kicked out or extra moisture from the air drawn in when the chokes open. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 the white smoke is also the condensation from the exhaust whichs forms when it is cooling down Quote
