Do you guys trust this stuff to protect you? Personally I'd rather a couple extra hundred quid, and buy something properly branded.

I personally prefer other makes purely because i like the look, but I would not presume a brand buys you safety. There's alot of safety laws etc these days that the gear has to pass. Lidl are also doing stuff too.

You realise most manufactures get out of this, by just fitting CE armour, therefore the clothing is not considered protective clothing.

So what makes clothing protective? The clothing in LIDL's is not that cheap, I have seen cheaper available in proper bike shops.

The clothing has to be CE approved, not just the armour. For instance I have a textile jacket and it quite clearly says its not "intended to be protective clothing under some law and only the armour, not jacket is CE approved."

I see, be interested to see what the ALDI/LIDL clothing says on it, but for the price its up for id imagine it is CE approved and is protective.

Not sure, here is a good pdf + some discount vouchers. They explain the CE thing better than I could "Look out for the CE label – proof it has been

tested to European standards. Check whether

it applies to the whole garment or just part of it."

Been to lidl this morning, opened at 8:00, but my 1st lesson was canceled so I could pop over to have a snoop. 4 other bikers parked outside at 8 O'clock dead, so had a friendly chat to them all for a bit, and they commented alot about the father's 3 wheeler. 8-)

Anyway, ended up picking up some undergarments, (elasticated Motorcycle top and trousers in the 'M' size). and a saftey chain (doesn't look great, as the links are rather small, but it'll do as an extra peice of kit for when they're locked up somewhere as it's dead light, and will fit in my topbox easily. :D ). Was also tempted by some boots, but decided I didn't like the feel of them (didn't fit my foot print quite right :( ).

Once we got home, I tried on the top and it's a excellent fit, feels great. :) Anyway I'm off to college so you lot enjoy your day. But lidl and Aldi have got some pretty darn good stock.

just back from aldi there,

bought the trousers at 29.99 and the socks at 3.49

bought the trousers for the fact of the removable thermal lining , however when i got home i took the lining out and there just as thick as my current trousers, which are roasting during the summer

so im taking them back tomorrow and keeping the socks :)

looks like im gonna start looking for some kevlar jeans instead

Too late. (More than likely) When Lidl or Aldi stock such items they allmost always sell out within a few hours. The number of times i've been down there early (maybe 30 mins or so after opening times) and all the stuff I was planning on browsing had already been snatched up, or was completely the wrong size is terrible. :( The likes of those 'mini markets' should stock more, of the specialist items as they sell like hot cakes. :(

J&S do some airflow trousers. They are very thin and have mesh panels. Fully armoured too, and £50 i think.
