Bullet5 last thread got me thinking, i should probably give my chain a good clean. I have a de-greaser and a lube that was recomended for bicycles, its a dry lube or something (what ever that means) Will that do? Or do motorikes need something a bit more heavy duty?

I got fed up with oil slinging on the wifes Jacket or should I say she did, anyway I bought a new chain as it needed replacement and cleaned all the oil/greese off it and fitted it, I then sprayed on muck off PTFE chain lube on which does not sling, It is clear and does not look as if anything is on at first, and I give it a spray every 300 to 400 miles and everything has been fine with no sling at all and a nice clean back wheen to boot :D

awesome! Thanks Keith. Only thing is, spent all my money on the bike/insurance/tax/fuel, so for the time being does anyone know if dry teflon lube will do? It says its for bicycles but surely its better than nothing?

How long have you been using the muckoff method? I'd be intrested in adopting that method, as a clean shiney bike is a happy on  ... (and of course it means less hastle trying to make her rear end look nice)

-- Thankyou mealexme, oil's and lubrications advice was what I was going to ask/look for next.

I wouldn't recommend the bicycle lube though, as motorbike lube has to be able to withstand the higher temptratures, longer running times, extra horsepower, (instead of one leg going up/down turning it over) and of course, the extra speed = more force of which the lubrication is subject to. So a greater chance of the bicycle lube flying off a motorbike chain, leaving the chain exposed. :?

Good luck with your choice, and thankyou again.
