Raym Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Having established i have a blocked breather ( engine keeps cutting out but starts and runs once the tank filler cap is opened and the air comes out) I have tried blowing down the breather tube and even tried doing it with a mini compressor but it still keeps cutting out . It was suggested it may be the filler cap at fault so i am looking to eliminate any other causes it may be before i splash out on a new cap Any more advice greatly appreciatedps I ran the bike for about 5 miles today from work with the filler cap open and it ran fine Cheers Quote
megawatt Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Strip filler cap if poss, clean and refitting. Find breather tube and pressurise with air / brake cleaner to clear blockage. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 the cap itself will have a small hole in it to allow tank to breathe it will be that blocked as mega says need to try and strip the lock out and have a good clean up in it Quote
Raym Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Stripped the filler cap down today ( after watching youtube vid how to ) cleaned it then i threaded some strimmer chord down the breather hole on the tank to try and clean it Have just been on a 27 mile run tonight and hey presto it did not cut out and when i opened the filler cap no air escaped So fingers crossed it may be sorted Cheers Guys Quote
