iiisecondcreep Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) Despite the weather reports for today being torrential rain all day, we dragged ourselves out of bed at 7am and headed north to the Green Welly Stop for the Kawasaki On The Road Demo day.Got there just after 9 and I booked a ride on the Z750R and my oh on the ZX-6R, then a second test ride with him on the 750 and me on the Ninja an hour later.Z750R (with Haggis the dog in the background )http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/Kawasaki%20On%20The%20Road%20Demo%20Day/DSC00387Medium.jpgZX-6R (and Haggis again )http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/Kawasaki%20On%20The%20Road%20Demo%20Day/DSC00386Medium.jpgReally glad we went, stayed dry until we set off home! Roads were brilliant as well. Really enjoyed the Z750R, really easy to ride and confidence inspiring in the corners. The position was really good for my back as well. The ninja was stupid amounts of fun, but unfortunately my crippledy back does not get on with the position at all I dono if it was the bikes or the condition of the roads but I was so much more confident riding today than I have been previously, much smoother and faster through corners and overtaking Some more picshttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/Kawasaki%20On%20The%20Road%20Demo%20Day/DSC00384Medium.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/Kawasaki%20On%20The%20Road%20Demo%20Day/DSC00382Medium.jpghttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y222/iiisecondcreep/Bikey/Kawasaki%20On%20The%20Road%20Demo%20Day/DSC00381Medium.jpgAND! Throttled Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Typical, sorry I chicken out with the weather reports, but I was not really sober till mid day. Did they have a Versys and is there a W800 I can see in one of the rows? That is what I would have taken out.I was so hoping I would have my full licence by now, the weather cancelled Mod 1 scuppered me.Sound like you guys had a good time anyway. Quote
iiisecondcreep Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 Yup they had the versys and w800 Hopefully they'll have another one next year (or sooner)!! I checked the weather for crieff for today yesterday and it had said heavy rain from 10am, but it stayed dry til about 1pm! TBH if Ed hadn't pretty much dragged me out of bed I'd probably not have went due to the forecast! The roads up there are so much better than round here, not a pothole in sight.Ed is now pining for a ninja! Quote
RiffmasterII Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 It will be the colour that gives you the extra confidence, much quicker in that colour too! Quote
2fast2soon Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 You can get aftermarket clip-ons that raise your position and ease the pressure on you back, I've got some on my GSXR, 2" back, 1" up and 1" wider I think, that little amount of movement does make a big difference. The ones I have are helibars, you can't really tell unless its parked up next to another GSXR without them. I also use a lower back support and can easily do 1 hour trips with no issues, I've even managed a day out on it with not much more pain than on the Triumph Street Triple.Just thought I'd share in case you really want the ninja... I have a gsxr srad atm, and have much the same problem! Its less cramped than the ninja but I can still only ride it for an hour or less so plan on getting risers fitted Don't think helibars make them for bikes the age of mine so hopefully getting custom ones made or save up me pennies for gilles variobar risers. Then I will probably have to get the footpegs adjusted as well so I can actually walk when I get off (must add- I am only in my twenties!!) Throttled Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I am just annoyed I have a Kawasaki and can't ride it yet. And the W800 was recently rated over the Bonneyville in Ride magazine. Quote

Maybe try a back support as a first step, I use a "Neo G VCS with stays", think I got it from amazon, was under £40. I can tell if I ride without it, so it does relieve some pain from the race crouch. Think I'll have to take up yoga or something like that to get a bit more flexibility in my core... Quote

Its my upper back thats the problem According to the physiotherapist the very top of my back doesn't really flex and all the flex of my upper back is from this one point just below my shoulder blades (which is there most of the pain is). I've been given various exercises to do but they really don't seem to be making any difference. I'm wondering if doing core strengthening exercises might help :I hope so Quote
