illvibetip Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 in short, i took my bike in to get a service las week, when i went to pick it up i got it round the corner and it stopped. It turned out that the blokes in the bike shop had left it out all weekend in the rain (we had around 400 mm over the weekend here) and the petrol tank had got soaked inside. Anyway, he drained it off and put some new fuel in. It seems a bit slower than usual but working ok...Is there anything i should be doing now to get it running well again? Thanks for any input Quote
Fozzie Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 How much did it drink? Water can't be compressed so you could have done damage as the engine is used to compressing air and petrol vapor together. Water can be kicked out as a by-product but too much and you have an issue.Keep an eye on it, run it through 2 or 3 takes worth of good fuel, then see where you are at. Quote
illvibetip Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 cheers, i only ran the bike for 2 mins so following what you said, Im hoping it should be ok.Thanks for the tip. Quote
Roadtorque Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Makes you wonder how water got in the tank,, Rain or no Rain it shouldn't,, filler caps are supposed to be water tight,, have a good look at the seal & maybe even change it Quote
