Passed my theory today, so now want to get my DAS booked.

I'm in Ipswich, can anyone recommend me anywhere? At the minute I'm going for http://www.academyofmotorcycling.co.uk as its the cheapest.

I've got the money to do this, well, once really. So I'm going to do mod1 training + test, then a few weeks later mod2 training + test. Is there a cheaper/more fool proof way of doing DAS?

I've been commuting every day for about 9 months, so am fairly confident, but don't want to risk doing it in a 4 day block.

Thanks

James

try and use someone who does free resits if you fail either module, ie, a guaranteed pass scheme, otherwise it can soon become very expensive, and bear in mind that although there are cheaper ways , you only have to fail one module for the additional costs to be quite a bit.

the school i ended up using were by no way the cheapest( in fact they were the dearest in my area) but i saved in the long run as i needed less hours than most of the standard DAS scemes because of my previous riding experience, some schools didnt want to take that into consideration and had no flexibility.

one other thing, if you dont have a bike to practise on inbetween , you may b just as well with an intensive 4 day course , as they tend to be guranteed pass, plus you may find if you have a big gap with no riding that it might feel like starting again, and need more hours in the long run.

Guaranteed pass sounds good but havnt seen it advertised on any of the sites around here, will have a look for it. Cheers.

usually find it under intensive course, so most of the 4 day ones , you will probably find the ones that are charging a bit more are more likely to be the ones doing some kind of included retest.

ask the questions, how much will it cost you if you fail, do they do a guaranteed pass scheme, etc, also ask about hourly costs for extra lessons, as some charge more if you dont do their intensives

Depends whether you're training simply to pass a test, or to gain a skill for life that may well save your life.

That seems incredibly quick for the Mod 2. I can see a day working for the Mod 1.

I had an hours training before my mod 1, but failed it today. Did everything perfect except I clipped a cone coming out of the corner. No idea how or why. Instructor said he had never seen it happen before. I'm planning on 2 hours training for mod 2. I'm paying 40 an hour, not sure if that's good or bad, but was my only hourly option round here

we trained in the morning doing the mod 1 and on many occasions i had to wait aside for the other person so he could get to grips with what he was doing. i found it all very easy on both the 125 and 500. in the afternoon we went out on the road and after 10 mins it felt so natural forgot i was on a 500 other than the speed difference. everything went well and its hard for me to go wrong as i have traveled around the whole of leeds. when we went back the instructor told me that i would ace the mod 1 no problems and the only thing i did wrong on the ride out was not setting off fast enough at roundabouts and always stopping at them even when traffic was going the other way.

If you can make it as far as Lowestoft Anglia rider training are fantastic, and very competitive rates. Emma is a great instructor and easy on the eye ;) and the rest of the team is fab too. I can't recommend them enough for all their help and support getting me thru my tests

Speechless

I still find it incredible and extremely worrying that people think it's a good thing to get through the test as quickly as possible with the minimum of training.

Yet again, 10% KSI.

Sounds about right to me. Place I'm at is £35 an hour on your own bike, £40 if you're on their 125 and £50 on their 500

Have you passed yet? You seem very confident...

I have taken 9 months, 7 with my own bike and spent about £1000 on training and tests including 20 hours of lessons to pass the DAS. I have covered nearly 3000 miles on my 125 yet I still feel like a beginner with lots to learn.

I was chatting with my instructor before my Mod 2 about week long courses and he said that he is very reluctant to do them as they have a 20% pass rate and cannot fully prepare you for the road.

Good luck to those who do chose that route and pass, but I find it scary and it is not for me.

The pass rate is a lot higher than that in most places. maybe he was trying to talk down the intensive route?

I agree with your 2nd point though. As I have said elsewhere, I worry that it's possible to pass without ANY training whatsoever. My son did it, and the only training he had was CBT.
