byangoma Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Sat my theory for the first time today, and glad to say that i passed it! I was a bit annoyed at the hazard perception though, as i should have got more than i did, as it gave me 0 points on one for clicking too much although i thought i was fairly conservative with my clicks, not to worry though as a pass is a pass! Now to save for mod 1... Quote
argentum40 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 congrats mate... i didnt like the hazard perception bit either as although i knew the hazards i wasnt sure when i shud be clicking so only just scraped through.... i didnt find the intro video explaining it useful at all but like you say a pass is a pass Quote
OhJay Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 congrats It's not just number of clicks hazard perception looks for, they care about things like rhythmical clicks as well. But hey, none of that matters any more, you have your shiny pass certificate and 2 years to make good on it Quote
Reaper Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I`m about to sit mine next week.I have done a trial hazard test online and like everyone else wasn't sure when to click and how many times.I saw ten videos altogether, each lasting about a minute. So roughly how many clicks would be deemed correct, and do you click when you see a hazard, when you approach the hazard or when you on top of the hazard?Anyways, well done on passing. Boothy Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Well Done I think that the Hazard perception would be better if the software actually works, but it doesn't. Personally I think they should asses your hazard perception during your Mod2. Quote
OhJay Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 It works by having a developing hazard occur during the video (2 happen in one video but that's a different story)The scoring works like this. A DSA examiner has decided the very earliest moment you could recognise the hazard and the very latest moment you can recognise and still do something about it. The window between these two times is split into 5. If you click the mouse in the first section you get 5, in the second you get 4 etc etc.Click when you see something that could happen: the first moment you see a car on the slip road, the moment you first see the ball bounce into the road etc.It is entirely feasible you could see something before the examiner has decided you should recognise it as a hazard so common advice is to click twice about half a second apart so if you were slightly early first time at least you'll register some points.Click every time the situation changes so click when you see the car, click when you see the guy get into it, click when the indicators come on, click when he starts moving. There are a few anti-cheat devices in place to stop you just spam clicking to ensure you click during the 5 section. There might be a click limit but I never reached it when practicing. Clicking rhythmically will set it off, clicking too many times in quick succession will set it off... Click sensibly when you see stuff and it won't Good luck for next week Quote
Reaper Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I have just done a quick online test,i clicked about 5 times per video and i scored 29 out of 50,or 58% i think it was.Would 5 clicks be enough do you think or am i being over cautious with the mouse.? Quote
OhJay Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 There were probably a couple of vids I would have clicked more than 5, town centre ones for example. In an ideal world you only need to click once per vid (twice on the 2 hazard)The best way to find out how many is too many is to try it. You don't lose anything pushing the limits on your practice tests Pass mark is 44/75, you will pass if you get 3 on every hazard Quote
