  2. Well, i've not been on here for a couple weeks due to essays etc, but today i did my Mod 2 and passed with 3 minors! Have to say i've been grinning all day, and treated myself to a new helmet!

Oh dear
  6. bar risers can potentially raise the bars up an inch or two, you may also be able to find bars with a higher rise themselves. alternatively, you could lower the seat height

  8. almost dropped my 125 putting it into my shed, just managed to hold it upright. I don't know if this counts as a drop or not, but went round a mini roundabout and hit an icy man hole cover which landed me on my side. Was at less than 5mph, so dunno if that's a drop or a slow speed crash? No shame in dropping a bike if your relatively new to that size of bike, especially if nerves are a contributing factor...
  9. I find if i'm ever doing a job like this, that i'm not overly familiar with, i take photos as i go along so i can see where everything went. When i fitted my restrictor kit and put everything back together, my bike didn't start initially. I couldn't understand why. Then i remembered that the fuel tap was still in the off position Double check that this isn't the case - it's easily done! It would have run initially from any fuel left in the carbs, but then would stop and fail to start if there was no more fuel getting to it. If you are using a manual, you could always take everything off again and follow it in reverse steps to see if you missed an important cable or hose. Good luck at any rate

  11. Not a big scooter fan, the sound of them puts me right off. No doubt i'd get the piss ripped outta me by my mates as well. Nothing against their riders, each to their own and all that If i did get one though, i'd no doubt try and copy this:
  12. Sat my Mod 1 for the first time today. Passed this with 0 minors or faults The worst thing is getting paper worked checked before, the nerves could easily kick in then. I had some practice for a couple runs on Saturday, which definitely helped a lot, so if you can do this - do it!! The examiner was nice enough and didn't leave me waiting in anticipation, told me i'd passed as soon as i got off the bike. The trick (for me anyway) is to keep calm and try and enjoy it. The only thing that will cause you to fail is if you over-think something, don't overshot the speed too much on the swerve or you'll make it more difficult. Overall, not too stressful and almost enjoyable!

If there is nothing in the policy booklet about it, and you say that there is the modification (i.e. 33hp restriction from >45hp) then your insurance is still legally valid unless they have said otherwise in the terms and conditions. I have a certificate that says it was fitted professionally at one point, but it has since been taken out, and then put in again by me. As anyone could do this and the insurance company would not be any the wiser it renders any certificate useless. There is no way that they can prove or disprove who fitted the restrictor. Any certificates only prove that it was fitted at the time of fitting. Some insurance companies won't insure you because of the modification - thats fine, its at their discretion. Some insurance companies may try to argue that you need a certificate, and i'm afraid that unless they say something about certificates in the t+c's (which none do as far as i'm aware) then you can fit them yourself perfectly legally, so long as it is 33hp or less on a dyno. If they are unmodified FI restrictors fitted correctly, then it will undoubtedly be correct. (Cheers for the heads up though! )

  16. Most 125's are not restricted, they give out all they can! If your just on a cbt you won't legally be able to ride anything more than 14.6bhp anyway and the best thing to do is sit your full test and get something bigger than a 125
