I believe gortex is a good material, although leather is better. This one has armor though and imo thats the main thing, I have a textile jacket and feel completely safe in it (or as safe as you can on a bike)

Also I am surprised the 20% sale is still on, it was meant to end yesterday lol

GoreTex is what the best jackets and trousers are made of. It is waterproof and generally very good at keeping water out, although it is also breathable. Cheaper, none GoreTex waterproof outfits tend to have a plastic type lining inside them and they tend to retain the heat and sweat and you end up getting wet from condensation rather than rain.

I just got my first GoreTex suit (Hein Gericke Master IV) after previously using a Frank Thomas Aqua Pore suit and it is a massive massive difference and well worth the money.

Gore-Tex is what the lining is made of, not the actual jacket. It's guarenteed to be 100% waterproof yet breathable so you don't get wet inside through sweat.

Hein Gericke gear is generally very good, and they will honour their guarentee with no problems or quibbles if the product is defective in any way. I got a pair of leather boots from them with Gore-Tex linings, they leaked a little at the toes and they swapped them without hesitation :)

The jacket looks very good value :thumb:

you learn something new every day

what guarentee?

I believe everything comes with a years garuntee if bought from new. (excluding food etc, and that also excludes normal wear, so you couldnt take back a tyre because it had simply worn out through use, unless you could prove it was a "manufacturing" fault. Thats why you should keep receipts :) )
