mealexme Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Well, basically its broken. I have a Rayven... something (doesnt say on the jacket). Has a big zip, larger than the normal zip you get on a bag for example. Its the zip slider that is broken and I have seen video youtubes of people doing it easily so I was thinking about trying myself before ringing a professional, but how do i know what size zip slider to get? Thanks Quote
Susieque Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 When you say the slider do you mean the bit that goes up & down or the thing you pull? How is it broken - e.g has it come off the teeth? Quote

Guest Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Take the original bit you have into the zip slider shop and ask for an exact replacment We have a leather/textile repair dude in Hull who fixes zips really cheap.... however I do realise this is useless information for you!Good Luck! Quote

Guest Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 that was cos i took it in too late so he tried to fix it and not replace it as i asked him too! Stop chasing me round the forum now! Quote
techno Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Err dont think so and anyway that would probably require not posting at all way your going! Quote
nman1 Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 When my jacket zip broke I took it along to a sadlers. They were the only people I could find that could stich leather. The very nice lady replaced the zip for £25 which was a hell of a lot cheaper than the £40 quoted by a bike gear repair shop. Quote
Guest Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 You could try an upholsterers - they work with leather and zips.I went to my local upholsterer who cut foam out of my seat and re-covered it... did a cracking job Quote
mealexme Posted September 2, 2011 Author Posted September 2, 2011 tthanks guys. i don't have a leather jacket btw. and i was asking because i couldn't find anywhere local to buy a zip so would want to buy online. i have the number of someone who can do it but thirty quid for them to do it vs pennies for a zip and me to do it myself. i have found a shop that sells them now though so i will take it in and find one Quote
