Well after failing in FAILsworth 2 and a half weeks ago my test is looming again, just 5 days away. It's in Bredbury this time, more local to me, know many of the roads, which is good.

I failed last time on not observing a 20 limit sign, hopefully I'll be a bit more aware next week.

I didn't have this problem in my last test but I've been thinking... If the examiner asks you to turn right at the t junction ahead, and there are one or more other roads to the right before the junction, when should you perform your mirror/ signal/lifesaver/ move to close to centre of the road? I can think of 2 options:

1/ Mirror/signal/ lifesaver/ move to close to centre of the road immediately but cancel the indicator very quickly, thereby avoiding confusing other road users as to your actions.

2/ Delay the aforementioned process until after passing the last road on the right before the junction.

I prefer 2/, and would do this during my everyday riding/ driving. But if the last road before the junction was very close to the junction I would tend to do 1/.

What do you guys think, or any other ideas?

Cheers

p.s. anyone ridden the Bredbury test recently, maybe give me some pointers as to what the route might be?

your better off asking your instructor he knows the test best

its rough failing on something so small mine tried to catch me out with a hidden 20 zone but im not that stupid but then i failed to stop at a stop sign what a dick head :eek2:

got another test on wednesday morning which as long as i don't make a stupid mistake i will pass

If the t junction splits into 2 lanes (1 for left n other for right) then as soon as it splits indicate/lifesaver then make manouvre into right lane, If its just one lane the about 60 -100 yards indicate/lifesaver and move more right of central position and dont worry about any other right turns traffic behind will react to your brake light and should also be aware of the t junction just ride as you would if you start worring and over thinking you will mess up just relax and enjoy and good luck hope u pass.

but if you pass a junction to the right, with your right indicator on, isn't that a fail? what if there was traffic at the junction and they saw you indicating right, they may think to pull out..

i wouldn't indicate just to change position in the the lane you are in, that could confuse people following behind. depending on how close the junction on the right before the T junction is, i would lifesaver, change position, wait till you are at least along side the junction you are passing then indicate right for the T junction.

Thanks for the replies. I'm doing this on my own, without an instructor, otherwise I would ask him/ her!

If you approach a right turn with the indicator on and turn at the next one that is a fail. If you go and indicate for the second right turn while on the 1st turn (presuming they are very close together) you will be fine. If you want extra time to indicate then slow down. I haven't seen two right hand turns that close together though except on a roundabout.

I know what your saying its common sense if you see a junction to the right you wouldn't indicate as that like you said would cause a problem you would indicate as soon as you passed but if there is a turning right just before the t junction you would have to indicate thats what i meant :D
