Hey folks, I recently passed my direct access test and bought a 98 CBR600F, its great and i love riding around. however, today when i was in town i left it for 10 mins, came back and it wouldnt start. Luckily i was on a hill so i bump started it and got back home, it ran fine once bumped. Tried to restart it and same again, nothing! Basically ignition lights come on, fuel pump primes, but it wont crank over, solenoid doesnt even click

Any ideas?

It's probably the battery but could be lots of things!

have you got a volt meter? If so test the voltage across

the battery both with and without the engine running.

check connections are tight.

usual suspects for non starting bikes..

..not sure if they all apply to to yours though.

but it may shed some light on the subject.

some bikes require the clutch pulling in to allow them to start, if the switch isnt working/connected then no starty.

battery charge to low to engage the starter relay (usually accompanied by a click or clicky clicky clicky clicky sound)

sidestand switch stuck. only applicable if your trying to start it in gear.

starter fuse blown or relay defective.

loose starter connection.

and even a dodgy starter switch.

hope it helps point you in some sort of direction.

A lot of honda's suffer from the Regulator/Rectifier problem.

If there's a problem with the charging circuit would the bike run at all, even if it's bumped? Guess that may depend on how much juice is left in the battery.....not enough to spin the starter, but enough to run the fuel pump and injectors.....sorry guys, just thinking out loud....
