megawatt Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 No it's not!!! Is it burning it? Is it coming out of engine breather. Is it discoloured? More info needed. DON'T RIDE IT!!! Quote
JamieK Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 I have no idea.. Its not coming out the exhaust or pouring out the engine anywhere.. Its used about 400ml in about 800 miles.. So not loads, due for a service soon, they can check it then if i can be bothered ill take a spark plug out and see if its burning it Quote
Tango Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 If it's not dropping it then it must be burning it.......but all engines will burn some oil. How often do you change the oil? Less than half a litre in 800 miles don't sound too excessive...but maybe a bit more than it should. Fresh oil may reduce that. Quote
megawatt Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 My 98 RRW Fireblade with 40,000 miles on it, burns no oil. I never have to top it up, or the coolant!!! Quote

megawatt Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 Good point Bob, won,t mention the 08-11 Blades then. Quote
Fozzie Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I checked up with my old SV who I sold to a friend...It's almost got 40k on the clock and has consumed 1 litre of oil in the last 3000 miles or so. Maybe the rings arent that great, maybe the oil is too thin who knows I read recently about a bike that switched to a thinner fully synthetic oil and it started sipping it after never having done previously. Keep riding it, see what happens? Quote
XmisterIS Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I have an SV, it has just over 15K on the clock and it gets an oil change when it gets a full service, once a year. Never had any problems with it in the oil department! Quote
JamieK Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 its got warranty so im not to bothered..mine isnt using that much just noticed its using more than it has.. its at 20k now soo its getting on Quote
