tryme Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Hi guys this is a simple question really.other than obviously needing to be waterproof and abrasive what sort of protection should motorbike trousers offer you?ce approved knee protection is obviously very basic but should you expect anything else from them? should they protect your hips or near your buttocks or what? I know you dont want to be sitting on nothing hard so obviously you wont have something like a back protector type material there but there may be something else softer or just abrasive on the outside. Throttled Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Mine have the above, plus a cold weather lining and padding on the hips. Basically if there is an additional form of protection or padding, I want it (but I do keep falling off!) Quote
dimmers Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 it depends how much protection you want to have.at the least, knee protection is a must in my mind. Hip armour is also worth having (in my opinion).you could buy some impact shorts (if you've got lots of money spare), knox and forcefield do some, they are basically some shorts with padding on to protect your thigh, and tail bone.some knee protection comes with straps to attach to your leg (like i use) which also cover some of your shin as well (check out the knox cross guard). I think these are much better than the standard knee protection that comes in most trousers, as it will stay put and not move around. No good having knee protection in your trousers, if when you come off it moves out of position! Obviously if you're wearing a set of race style leather trousers (which should be tight) then this won't be a problem. Quote
Colin the Bear Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Wind protection is all that can be relied on. All trousers leak eventually and crash protection is theoretical. Quote
