davefly76 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 what do you mean, its loose? can you describe where it is loose, is there any knocking/movement when the bike is stationary? Quote
toon83 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 the bars move too much so when i take a corner the bars move also when i got it newish the steering was stiff and required me to move to take corners and now it feels more like my old cbf500 where i have to use the bars to move instead of using my body. Colin the Bear Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Have read, waited , considered, reread, and still don't understand You may just have got more used to the bike and are cornering harder. I cannot imagine how it is possible to steer a bike without moving the bars. The fact that it now feels like a bike you were used to may mean that you're used to this one. If the bars are jiggling about in a corner then a steering damper may help. Quote
cyberwolf Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 (edited) you saying the handlebars are moving eg you can move them without turning or steering the bike?the pic i put up is that bar moving back and forth? Edited December 2, 2011 by cyberwolf Quote
whitedevil Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Read up on counter steering then get back to us. Quote
Tango Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Are you talking about play in the Steering Head bearings? This can be felt by putting the bike on a paddock stand and jacking the front end so that the front wheel is off the ground then grabbing the bottom of the fork legs and moving them backwards and forwards. Any movement in this area would suggest the Head bearings need tightening/replacing. Another way to check this is to sit on the bike and with the front brake on try rocking the bike forwards and backwards. If you can feel or hear a slight knocking coming through the bars, that would indicate the same thing. Quote
Bogof Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 the bars move too much so when i take a corner the bars move also You shouldn't wheelie on corners. Quote
