I will use plastic primer before paint As long as it's smooth with no imperfactions there is no need to remove all the old colour, just prime it, rub down with very fine wet and dry then paint Quote

Danny-B- Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 recently did a couple of fairings myself ..As hodgy says, no you dont need to remove all the colour, just ensure you sand the whole panel otherwise it wont stick to the shiny bits i did 3x coats of primer then a light sanding .. 3x coats of colour, then 2ish coats of laquer .. (but i wish i did 3x)Leave at least 24hrs between ... then its even more hard work making them shine .. after youve done all that you probs want to sand lightly with 2000grit then work with some rubbing compound .. then buff ...I havnt done the last bit yet though ...
